The Junket’s shelf life will expire December 30, 2021
Who knew that Bruno and Cindy’s Labour of Love, and Fountain of Youth, established in 1979 would have such a 42 year fabulous run. If those Deli slicers could talk! Countless stories of love, mystery, clotted cream, Köstritzer and…Headcheese. Bruno and Cindy helped, and befriended so many customers. “Tales from the Deli” is sure to be a bestseller.
So thanks for the memories…
And piles of thanks to the precious customers and vendors and the oh so dedicated employees for 42 deli-cious years. (Especially here at the finish line) Could never have done it without you.
Bruno and Cindy will miss everyone.
Much love to you all. xo
"The Day the *Headcheese Died"
(Sung to the tune of “American Pie” by Don McClean 1971)
A long, long time ago
I can still remember how that Headcheese
Used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make the Junket last
And maybe w’ed be happy for a while
But December made me bitter
The rent the bills, was I a quitter?
Covid on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
When I learned about the Deli’s demise
But something touched me deep inside
The day the Headcheese died
So, bye-bye, to the Headcheese on Rye
Drove my belly to the Deli, but the Deli retired
And good ole boys were eatin’ Headcheese on Rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die, and
If I can’t have my Headcheese I’ll cry”
(*Headcheese /ˈhed.tʃiːz/:
Headcheese is a cold cut that originated in Europe. Headcheese is not a dairy cheese. There is no cheese involved.)
