Working 9 to 5, day in and day out can be a drag. Great job getting it done and making it to the end of the summer holiday! Happy Labor Day weekend! Time to recognize and celebrate all those efforts with barbecues and get-togethers! Let Blake’s hook you up with all the crucial food for gatherings. We have the local Meats, Melons, Maters, Maize, and more! Fair Hill Meats has excellent cuts of beef and pork that are the perfect main dish. Supplement the meats with local watermelons, local lopes, local juan canaries, honeydew, local tomatoes, local sweet corn, grapes of all shapes and colors, salsas, chips, and pickles. Give one of Blake’s Corner Garden BBQ sauces a try for your spare ribs flavoring.

The garden center was just stocked on Wednesday with mums. The bright purple asters have also arrived so start your fall planting this weekend!

As always, our friendly staff are eager to help. From week to week things get shuffled around so no worries if you can’t find things, just ask!

What’s New Wednesday does not disappoint. This week the garden center has turned over to incorporate the fabulous fall flower, the chrysanthemum. These are hardy and field grown. Why does that matter, do you ask? Hardy field grown mums develop strong root systems and underground runners that can withstand cold winter temps. That means that these beauties will come back next year. Another important fact about field grown mums is that they have resistance to disease. Only the plants with strong roots survive. We have the whole rainbow of mum colors in stock. Choose from cream, yellow, orange, burnt orange, pink, magenta, purple, and crimson. Which one is your favorite? More than one favorite? Take advantage of the Mix-N-Match deal of 6 hardy mums for $40. There are also quite a few jumbo tri-colored mums in stock in case you have some larger spaces in the garden to fill with an awesome autumn vibe.

It’s another Markdown Monday! Monday is our day to give our customers a break on the price of an item or two. This is a reminder for a current sale we have going on. The celosia, hibiscus bushes, hibiscus trees and the small palm trees are on sale for $10/each or grow big or go home with 6 for $50, essentially buy 5 and get one free. We are in the last couple days of August but the local produce is still going strong! Today we have the very sought after Dr. Martin Pole Lima Beans. These legendary beans are said to be whispered about at late summer candlelight dinners. These are the beans to include in any true succotash.

The local sweet corn is still a plenty and has the full flavor you’d expect from the perfect side to any summer meal. The size of the years are the biggest they’ve been all summer.

There are several new local peppers. Whatever you are cooking you can get peppers from all different levels of hot/sweet such as the hot peppers, red sweet peppers, poblano peppers, and hot cayanne peppers.

The chicken pies are back in stock! These go like hot cakes so get them before they disappear sgsin!

Don’t overlook all the local produce like juan canary melons, candylopes, red seedless watermelon, yellow seedless watermelon, sugar baby watermelon, and the sangria watermelon and much more. Take advantage of the high time of local produce!

We have a little theme happening for our What’s New Wednesday post this week. New in the fruit fridge this week are the King Kong grapes. Why that name you ask? Well, you may go bananas at the actual size of these…the biggest of them all. Carrying on with the theme, next we have the local monster maters that are looking mighty tasty. We can’t talk about monsters and not mention the actual Monster cookies. Enjoy some candy coated chocolate pieces surrounded by soft cookie dough that may be best paired with coffee, scream & sugar. The large jars of eggs and beats are certainly frightfully delightful. Big beef meat pies are so scrumptious you may find yourself goblin them up too quickly.

A little reminder the local BCG honey is on the shelf. Available in 1.5lb. & 3lb. jars.

In case you missed some new arrivals at the shop this weekend, we thought we’d catch you up. The flower cart has been cleared of all perennials and it has made room for more locally grown watermelons. If you are one of the people that have been waiting all summer for the Sangria watermelon then this announcement is for you. These locally grown Sangria watermelons are the gold standard of the massive watermelons of late summer, weighing up to 20lbs, making them the best option for your big gatherings.
