Life has been a little busy with 3 kids at home, homeschooling, starting the garden and everything else life gives you!

The Apiary is buzzing! Bee populations are busting at the seams. Hives are ready to swarm and we are splitting them into 5 frame
Nuc colonys to sell. We are over 20 colonys at the moment. Our main hives are in honey production so hopefully we will have more availible soon!

Game of Thrones Kind of Drama!

• When a queen is not fertile anymore, the worker bees will kill her and make a new queen

• Worker bees make a queen by feeding a fertilized egg royal jelly a substance they secrete out of a gland in their head

• A handful of queens are made. The first to hatch finds the unborn queens and kills them so she can become the new queen!

Did you know honey bees do not pollinate tomato plants?

They cannot get the pollen and the flowers do not produce nectar so they don't visit tomato plant flowers!

Bees feed on both nectar and pollen. Nectar is for energy and pollen provides protein and other nutrients. Most pollen is used by bees as larvae food.
