☀️ Today will be one of our hottest U-Pick weekends ever! We wanted to give you some tips to help make your experience better!

☀️ Wear cool clothes (it’s no time for flannel) and comfortable shoes.

💧 We encourage you to bring bottles of water that you can carry with you into the orchards. Please stay hydrated!

🌳 Apple trees do not provide much shade in the orchards. If you get too hot, we recommend checking out the petting zoo area, the pig races, the gates, or going on a wagon ride to cool off.

🔥 Noon–4:00 PM will be the hottest part of the day. That’s a great time to cool off in the market and enjoy a cider slushy and fried pies. You can also check out Reece's Cider Co. across the street—they will have food trucks, live music, and college football on!

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the orchards to pick apples and enjoy some fun on the farm! Please be safe and stay cool! 😎

Ever wondered where an apple orchard stores all those apples after they’re picked? 🍎 In this video, we take you behind the scenes at BJ Reece Orchards in Ellijay, Georgia, and explain how we store our apples throughout the season.

Our cold storage cooler holds approximately 1,000 bins of apples! We keep the apples refrigerated at 36–38°F to help maintain their quality and freshness.

Depending on the variety and the time of year, apples can stay in our cold storage for a couple of weeks to a couple of months before they make their way to our farm market.

One thing we don’t do? We don’t keep apples from one year to the next. The apples we sell are from the current growing season.

We wanted to share a few photos from our very first ☀️ Homeschool Days! ☀️

It was definitely a HOT one, but we are so grateful to everyone who came out, braved the heat, and spent the day learning and making memories with us! 🍎📚

We also want to remind everyone that our 2026 Homeschool Days are fully booked. We have to limit attendance for the educational program to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

But if your family would still like to visit B.J. Reece Orchards, we’d love to have you! 🍎 Our farm activities are open during the week and are a great way to spend a day on the farm.
