Hi everyone! It’s been a while since we’ve had any new posts! We’ve missed you guys.
However, in lieu of a pastry-filled post, we have an important announcement for our followers and friends alike.
As of April 15th 2020, Plum Bun Bakery is permanently closed.
Now, I’m sure many people will be asking “Why?” at this point. We would like to be transparent with you all.
About three months ago—after over a year of deliberation—Thom (the bread baker) left the bakery seeking employment elsewhere. Since then, it’s been a one-man show. Liz (the cake maker) has been running the wholesale aspect of the bakery by herself, with help from Gabe (the person who mans the register).
About three weeks ago, an opportunity too good to pass up in this crazy time presented itself to Liz, in the form of employment elsewhere. This was to be expected eventually; the building has been for sale since August and we brielfly addressed the idea of us moving on in our post about the sale.
Sometimes life has a funny way of opening doors you didn’t know existed, which is what happened here.
We would like to make it clear that we are not closing because of the current COVID-19 situation or due to financial issues. This has been on our minds for several years now. It just happened to line up with a strange time for us all.
Over the past 16 years, we have had some of the best—and definitely some of the worst—moments in our lives in the bakery. This has been a very hard decision for us to make, but we believe it will change our lives for the better. We want to thank you, the people we’ve met along the way, for everything you’ve supported us through.
Thank you for being our customers, and our friends.
Have a great day. 💜
