Welcome to our little slice of heaven. 🍎
We're at Lee Irish Mountain Orchard — just north of Elysian, sitting on 67 acres of orchard plus 120 adjacent acres of CRP land. (Yes, we're planning to build our forever home out here. No, we're not sorry.)
When we first bought this place, we thought there were maybe three different kinds of fruit. Honey Crisp, Zestar, and pears. That's it. Lo and behold — we actually have Honey Crisp, Zestar, Ruby Jon, Stella, Haralson, Connell Red, Fireside, Fireside Crisp, and Red Crisp (which is a Honey Crisp offspring and honestly incredible). Then there are plums. And pears — Parker, Bartlett, and Seckel. The Seckels are tiny, kind of ugly, and absolutely the best ones on the property. Don't sleep on the Seckels.
Oh — and two peach trees. They didn't bear fruit this year. Fingers crossed for next year. 🍑
We also did the math on the apple potential. Conservatively? This orchard could produce over a million pounds of apples. A little bit, a little bit.
You can come out and pick your own, or buy by the bag — we've cleaned it up, it's nice and pretty, and there's stuff for the kids including hay bales. Next year we want to do hay bale art throughout the orchard, add some sitting areas, maybe some fire pits. We've already done live music and some events out here.
This place is just getting started. And we'd love for you to be part of it. 🍂
