Another batch of garlic dill spears headed for the canner! 🥒

I think I have just enough for one more batch. I’m going to try and get it done today. Then I want to do some more bread and butter flavored, but those take longer.

My chopping arm is tired 😪

I’m making homemade Rotel! I decided to do half jalapeños and half bell peppers since we typically buy the mild version at the grocery store I figured this would be a pretty close match.

A bit of simmering to go and I’ll be ready to fill jars! 🫙 🍅 🌶️ 🫑

Good morning 🌞 happy Saturday, farm friends!

Any guesses what I’m canning up today? 🍅 🌶️

I scored these absolutely GORGEOUS Roma tomatoes from Small Wonders Acres right down the dirt road from me. 🤩 I don’t think I’ve ever seen such pretty tomatoes.

I am scared of these jalapeños though 🫣 I am not a spicy food person. I’ve got my gloves at the ready and my hair is pulled back so no reason to touch my face.

What’s on your plate this evening?

We’re having homemade pizza 🍕 The big kids and Hubby watched Predator Badlands and ate popcorn 🍿 so I only needed 3 pizzas instead of 4. I’ll take it 😅

I was thinking I might do dill spears after dinner, but my feet and my back are sore already. It can wait until tomorrow

Sorted the tomatoes this morning 🍅

This box is full of tomatoes that need to ripen some more. I’ve been having to grab them as soon as they start blushing or the ones the deer have knocked down.

I also put up 10+lbs of ripe Amish paste into the freezer for sauce making later.

My cherry tomatoes are going crazy so I also put up nearly 6lbs into the freezer. I’ll use them to help bulk up my sauces.

🥒 On to sweet relish and more dill spears now.

Another exciting weather day for us ⛈️ 🌪️

We had a very strong line of thunderstorms come through in the middle of Sweet Pea’s naptime and I was watching the radar and Michigan Storm Chasers live feed when we got a text alert that there was a funnel sighted on the street that’s just 2 miles south of our house. Not knowing what cross street or other details I gathered up the kids, the dog, and the cat and downstairs we went.

After about 30 minutes nothing was really going on except for heavy rainfall and we were able to come back upstairs.

We have maxed out our rain gauge: over 5” of rain in the last 7 days, over 1.25” today alone.
