Rainy. Cold. Damp. 🌧️

You know what that means in the sugarbush… the PERFECT recipe for a big maple sap run!

450 gallons today! 🙌🍁

Yep… you already know what we’re doing tonight 🙂
Firing up the RO, stoking the evaporator, and settling in for a long, sweet evening in the sugar shack with Willie Nelson.

Just shy of 200 gallons of maple sap today! 🍁

It’s 50° and raining, the spring peepers are singing, and the sugar shack is steamy-sweet. I do believe this run will carry us through Saturday and that will likely be the end of our 2026 Kentucky maple syrup season!

Did you know when the maple tree buds begin to swell, the sap goes from yum to ick. We say the sap has gone “buddie” when this happens. That change is coming soon. It’s always bittersweet — we’re grateful to see the season start, and just as grateful (and tired 😅) to see it wrap up. Sugaring is a joy… but it’s a LOT of work!

We’ll keep you posted on how this final run shapes up. Stay tuned! The last boil of the season is always a special one.

20* and still snowing tonight…give me a shoutout if you are thankful for cold weather that will extend maple syrup season by another week or so? Anyone? 😋
