Motherhood is crucial to the growth and development of all living things. The role of caring for, nurturing and teaching new beings how to thrive and survive is truly special. There are mothers and mother figures who may not be actively caring for new beings, but who are nonetheless interwoven into our culture and essential to our well-being and resilience. All should be acknowledged, appreciated and celebrated! At LCFM, we are celebrating all the ways motherhood shows up in our lives, all the relationships that teach us how to care better for one another, and all of the people who have helped nurture us and tend to our growth!

This Mother's Day is a unique one in our market's community. We are celebrating quite a few vendors who are expecting new sprouts in their families this spring! We asked our soon-to-be moms of the market what being a mother means to each of them, which you can read about on our website and in this week's LCFM newsletter! Follow the link in our bio to read and subscribe.

We encourage you to wish each of these expecting moms a happy Mother's Day at the market, and perhaps to grab a bouquet or baked good for any mother in your life! 💐

It's finally strawberry season! This Saturday (5/2), learn how to make your own local strawberry jam from Micheil Peck-Book of Cook-Book's Bakin' ! đŸ“đŸ«™

This In Season cooking demo starts at 11AM and 12PM inside the Pavilion, and is FREE to attend!

About the chef:
"My name is Micheil Peck-Book and I am the owner of Cook-Book's Bakin'. It is a Eugene local cottage bakery making sourdough breads and baked goods. I officially opened my bakery in 2025 but have spent the last 2 years developing my craft. I have been cooking since a very young age and I would love to share all my knowledge of cooking and baking with others as well as gain all the knowledge I can. Baking sourdough can seem like a hard process but it just teaches you to be patient, learn with me and I will show you how easy it can be! This is the first year ill be selling my goods at the farmers market. I hope to see you all there!"

Introducing this Saturday's Little Bites program, a family- and child-friendly opportunity to sample farmers market products and expand your palate!

Round up the whole family for a Little Bites tasting session with Second Breakfast Pies this Saturday, April 25th! Stop by our In Season demo space in the Pavilion to try out their lamb's haggis, a traditional Scottish recipe now made right here in Oregon! Sampling is FREE and will be available from 11AM - 1PM.

About the vendor:

Second Breakfast Pies isn’t just a food vendor it’s a love story baked into every bite. Founded on the time-honored baking traditions of a beloved grandfather; a Navy cook whose legacy lives on in every handcrafted recipe, Second Breakfast Pies is built around one simple mission: to create an extraordinary experience of love through food. Every item is made entirely from scratch using organic, locally sourced ingredients, free from additives, and crafted with the same care and heart that their grandparents brought to the table.

Second Breakfast Pies inherited this beloved haggis company from Charles, the retiring founder of Lamb’s Haggis, who trusted them to carry on his legacy, passing the torch rooted in friendship, shared values, and what they call hobbit culture: treating everyone like family.

The haggis is crafted using sheep organs sourced just up the road from Andersen’s Farms, paired with locally sourced oats and vegetables. It’s USDA approved, available packaged and frozen, and ships nationwide. Rich in nutrients and deeply rooted in Scottish tradition, it’s a dish that honors the whole animal, the way our ancestors always intended.

Come taste a piece of Scotland this Saturday, grown in Oregon, and made with love.
