Funeral arrangements for John Hammann have been determined. Visitation will take place at Neidhard Minges Funeral Home in Westwood on Wednesday 8/5 from 5pm to 7pm. Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday 8/6 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 10:30am with interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

To allow our staff time to attend a celebration of life for our patriarch we will be closing at 1pm on Thursday, August 6.

We are so appreciative of all the kind words, thoughts and prayers that have been shared since John’s passing. A great testament to a wonderful man.💜

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our owner and founder, John Henry Hammann. John passed away peacefully on July 29 surrounded by his family. Please keep Pat, his four sons and their families and the Hammann’s crew in your thoughts. We will share service details once they are available.

Happy Monday, Hammann’s Nation! Now that the dust has settled we want to take a moment to thank all our customers for reaching out to check on our staff and offer their assistance with anything we might need. We appreciate you! We’d like to thank our local police and fire departments for their swift response. Thank you to the City of Fairfield for the quick response to ensure the building safety. Many many thanks to Oberer Construction for coming out and getting everything cleaned up and shored up so we have a safe working environment until the repairs are made. You guys rock!

A big thank you to all our amazing staff who remained calm and collected! We’re excited to welcome everyone back in the Butcher Shop today!

An Update from Hammann’s

We wanted to share what happened and thank everyone for the incredible support and concern we’ve received.

Earlier today, our building sustained significant structural damage after an unexpected accident. Thankfully, everyone is safe, including the driver, our employees and the Hammann family. We are incredibly grateful that no one was injured.

While we work with, contractors, and insurance to assess the damage, our store will remain temporarily closed until further notice. Our top priority is ensuring the building is safe before reopening.

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING ORDERS.
All catering orders scheduled for Saturday and Monday will still be prepared and fulfilled as planned. Any butcher shop orders for Saturday and Monday that have already been PRE-ORDERED will also be available for pickup.

We’ll continue to post updates here as we learn more and have a better idea of when we can welcome you back.
