Save the date, Northwest Arkansas! 🌱

A strong local food system doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built when farmers, chefs, food entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare professionals, food access organizations, and neighbors come together around the same table.

That’s exactly what the Northwest Arkansas Regional Food Systems Conference is all about.

📅 December 8–10, 2026
📍 The Jones Center | Springdale, Arkansas

Over three days, we’ll learn from one another, make new connections, tackle challenges facing our local food system, and—most importantly—turn ideas into action.

Whether you grow food, serve it, sell it, help people access it, or simply care about where your food comes from, there’s a seat at the table for you.

Registration opens this month, so stay tuned. 👀

Northwest Arkansas farmers market managers recently came together to prepare for another exciting year of the Double Your Dollars program!

During our meeting, we celebrated successes, discussed challenges, participated in a privilege training, and shared observations from markets across the region. These conversations help strengthen our markets, improve customer experiences, and ensure the Double Your Dollars program continues to serve our communities effectively.

We're also excited to welcome the Madison County Farmers Market in Huntsville to our growing network! Beginning July 1, the market will officially become a Double Your Dollars site, expanding access to fresh, locally grown food for even more Northwest Arkansas families.

Thank you to all of our market partners for your collaboration and commitment to building a stronger, more equitable local food system!

🌱 Every local farm has a story and every purchase you make helps that story continue.

We recently had the opportunity to visit FarmHand and spend time with Orthodox Homesteading, where Philip and Ciera grow specialty produce for chefs and restaurants across Northwest Arkansas. Their work is a reminder that exceptional food starts long before it reaches your plate. Orthodox Homesteading focuses on growing high-quality, chef-driven produce with an emphasis on flavor, sustainability, and craftsmanship, while FarmHand helps beginning farmers access land, equipment, mentorship, and local markets.

When you choose local food—whether you're shopping at a farmers market, joining a CSA, visiting a farm stand, or dining at a restaurant that sources locally—you're doing more than buying fresh ingredients. You're supporting the people who care for our land, strengthening our local economy, and helping build a more resilient food system for everyone.

Earlier this month, we had the chance to spend the day with fellow grantees from the Walmart Foundation's Strengthening Communities: Healthier Food for All initiative. It was a great opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and share ideas with organizations across our region that are all working to improve access to healthy food.

The Walmart Foundation supports programs like Double Your Dollars because access to nutritious food is essential for healthy communities. By investing in food access initiatives, they're helping reduce barriers to healthy eating, especially in rural and underserved areas.

During the meeting, we talked about the important role volunteers play in strengthening our organizations and learned new ways to recruit and engage volunteers. We also spent time discussing data collection—why it matters, how it helps us better understand the communities we serve, and how it allows us to demonstrate the impact of our work.

We came away with fresh ideas, new connections, and plenty of inspiration to bring back to Northwest Arkansas. Thank you to the Walmart Foundation for bringing us together and investing in both food access and the partnerships that help make this work possible!

Support local food this weekend by dining at some of Northwest Arkansas’ favorite restaurants featuring ingredients from local farmers like Hanna Family Ranch 🐑🌱

Hanna Family Ranch supplies the lamb for dishes you’ll find around town at spots like Conifer RYN and more.

When you support local restaurants sourcing from local farms, you’re supporting an entire community of growers, ranchers, and makers right here in NWA. 💚
