Fitchburg Farmers Market

Fitchburg Farmers Market It consists of at least two local farms selling items that they have produced directly to the public.

Fitchburg Farmers' Market brings together the local flavor and culture of Fitchburg through local agriculture, artists, craftsmanship, and community spirit.

::Definition of a Farmers Market::
A farmers Market is an organized activity occurring multiple times per year for the purpose of personally connecting and mutually benefiting local farmers, communities and shoppers. Farmers Markets have rule

s of vendor acceptance and participation that provide a general preference for local farmers above all other vendors. These rules determine the definition of ‘LOCAL’ as it pertains to that market, and may allow for other types of vendors depending on the needs of that community.

::Methods of Payment::
Different vendors accept different forms of payment. In an effort to make the market accessible to most people, some vendors have been approved to accept SNAP/HIP, WIC vouchers, and Senior Farmers Market Coupons from MOC. Of course, all our vendors accept cash, and some will accept major credit cards. Growing Places does accept SNAP/HIP on behalf of participating local farms on locally grown produce.

Farmers and food pantries are calling for the state to replace the federal aid program, emphasizing the need for continued support in addressing food insecurity. Since 2023, the Local Food Purchasing Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program (LFPA) has allocated approximately $14 million to 31 organizations across Massachusetts. Thanks to this program, local food has been sourced from 630 unique farmers, producers, and fishermen, with 53% coming from historically underserved communities.
