Porky Pastures is looking for a new team member for Saturdays at the market!

🚨 SALES & CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE TEAM MEMBER 🚨

This is not just a market job.

I'm looking for a backup Sales & Customer Experience Team Member for Porky Pastures.

This is an occasional Saturday position, typically 1–2 Saturdays per month, though some months may be more or less. The right person must be available on Saturdays with advance notice when coverage is needed.

Before you keep reading, ask yourself:

• Do you genuinely enjoy talking to people?
• Do you find yourself recommending products you love to friends and family?
• Do you care about what goes into your food and skincare products?
• Do you enjoy learning and teaching others?
• Can you confidently start conversations with strangers?
• Do you get excited when you help someone find exactly what they need?

If that sounds like you, keep reading.

This is not a job where you sit behind a table and wait for customers to walk up.

I'm looking for someone who can:

• Learn our products inside and out
• Explain the difference between what we offer and what people find in the grocery store
• Help customers find the right products for their needs
• Educate customers through conversation, not pressure
• Create a welcoming experience that keeps customers coming back
• Increase sales through genuine relationship building and product knowledge

Experience with homesteading, regenerative farming, natural living, holistic health, farmers markets, skincare, or sales is a huge plus.

The ideal person is:

• Dependable
• Friendly and outgoing
• Self-motivated
• Comfortable talking with strangers
• Passionate about clean food and natural products
• Excited to continue learning

We're not looking for someone who wants a Saturday job.

We're looking for someone who wants to become part of the farm.

This role represents years of work building customer trust and relationships. When you're behind the table, you're representing our farm, our products, and our values.

Reliability is absolutely critical. When you're scheduled, customers, market managers, and our farm are counting on you. This is not a position where calling out at the last minute is an option except in true emergencies.

There is potential for additional opportunities beyond market days, including workshops, special events, and other farm-related activities as we continue to grow.

Compensation includes hourly pay plus opportunities for performance-based bonuses tied to sales and results. If you're the type of person who enjoys helping customers and takes pride in growing sales, you'll likely do very well in this role.

This position is ideal for someone who already loves farmers markets, homesteading, natural living, regenerative agriculture, traditional foods, or clean skincare products and wants to be part of something meaningful.

If that's you, send me a message and tell me:

1. Why this position interests you
2. Any experience you have with sales, farmers markets, farming, homesteading, natural living, or customer service
3. Why you'd be a great fit for Porky Pastures

Did you know?

We now make our sourdough and bagels vegan by default! (This picture shows our gluten-free, vegan nut & seed sourdough loaf.)

We've heard our people and are working to rise to the standards you need. Not every need can be met, but we are doing the best we can. So, we are proud to announce that not only do we offer gluten-free sourdough and bagels, but they are vegan as well! Over time, we will continue to work to adjust our recipes to meet the needs of our people as a show of appreciation for all of your support.

Remember, we can make almost everything we bake customized to your needs. Even if we don't bake something to your liking by default, you are absolutely welcome to place an order for something made just for you. Email us at [email protected] to let us know what you need. When people let us know what they need, we strive to meet those needs as quickly and as accurately as possible without compromising taste and quality.

Weeping Willow Farm won’t be at the market this Saturday, so be sure to check out their fully stocked farm store fridge for all your favorite essentials!

It’s going to be a bit quiet here for the next week as we celebrate our youngest daughter’s high school graduation and my last year homeschooling with our family and friends. But don’t worry—our outside fridge is fully stocked with goat milk, yogurt, caramels, and eggs! So come on over and get what you need when you need it!
If you’re wanting to purchase goat milk soaps this week, please call/text/message ahead and I’ll be happy to get your order taken care of and placed outside in our carport for easy pickup. Thanks so much, everyone!❤️🎓

We’re on the list! It’s an honor to be in the company and community of such wonderful farmers markets!

Dear community,

is there a better vibe than the Floyd Farmers Market on a Saturday morning? Fresh and seasonal produce, baked goods and breads, artisan soaps, fresh mushrooms, locally milled flour, plant and herb starts, pasture raised meat and eggs, herbal medicine, and more. Everything here is grown and made within a 50 mile radius. And, I recently heard that 68% of money that gets spent locally stays locally! When you shop at our market, you are contributing to our local (food) economy ~ how wonderful is that?!
