How this farm stand started VS now…
We started our roadside stand by offering one item. Eggs. And before anyone asks, no. We no longer sell eggs. As to why, well, that’s a story for another day.
Back in 2020, Owen had the idea of having a backyard garden. As you might remember the world in which we lived at the time was a little different.
It began with him making various drawing layouts of his potential garden. Dan bought all the plants he requested. Then each night they would discuss a to do list. Owen would buzz through his online learning and run outside to work in has garden.
Once it began to produce, he’d put the various produce items in our stand. At that time, he would simply ask for donations. This was absolutely perfect! It kept him busy and he received small monetary rewards for his efforts.
However, as he grew so did his plans. The amount he has planted has grown. Every. Single. Year. Over time it was determined he needed to focus his efforts and try to do those things really well. At of now, his main focus is sweet corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, and pumpkins.
With expanded planting also comes increased expenses. At some point, it became cost prohibitive to simply ask for donations. Thus prices were set and we continue to do so. His overall goal is to offer affordable and fresh produce.
Just to give you a small glimpse, over $1K was spent before anything went in the ground this year.
Everything is planted with hope. Hope that it will grow. Hope that it will produce something wonderful. And maybe most of all, hope that you will come!
Without you, none of this is possible. The dreams in 2020 wouldn’t have continued without people’s support. For those that have been with us since the very beginning - THANK YOU! For those that just found our stand - THANK YOU!
