A Market Highlight from July is the particularly bright variety of tomatoes from Tabor Farms! (And some of these varieties will be back for the August market - THIS SATURDAY!) πŸ…

Here's a little bit about each of them so you know which to look out for.

❀️ Cherry Tomatoes - Considered a snack by many due to being bite-sized and having a milder flavor, these work as well when roasted whole as they do sliced and added to a salad or pasta dish.

🧑 Champion Tomatoes - Also known as the Beefsteak Tomato, these are meaty and often sliced thick for sandwiches and burgers, giving what many have called the "true tomato" taste.

πŸ’› Sun Gold Tomatoes - A sun-colored type of cherry tomato known for its ultra-sweet, fruity taste, these are best eaten from the vine or added to a veggie platter or salad.

The heat is here and that means doing things to keep you hydrated, cool, and comfortable. Like drinking plenty of water without waiting to feel thirsty, for example. πŸ’§πŸ©΅

If you're looking to stay hydrated through what you're eating, the best options are fruits and vegetables with very high water content. Many of these can be found at the market. They can provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber on top of the many benefits* of hydration. πŸ‰β˜€οΈ

We know it's important never to judge others and the SAME THING can be said for ingredients. Sure, you've seen sweet and hot peppers all your life, but did you know they could do all the things above? We didn't even list everything! 🌢️

Never underestimate the complexities of flavor when what you're eating was picked at peak ripeness. It's one of life's little surprises. πŸ’šπŸ«‘

Let's take a look back at the last market to get grounded. With plenty to see, listen to, smell, taste, and talk about, the market can be an ideal place for taking in your surroundings. βœ¨πŸ…

Regardless of where you are, taking the time to pause, to see what your senses are experiencing, can help you recenter and find your rhythm. To stay in the moment you're in. πŸ’–

See you at the next market! πŸͺ΄Sat, Aug. 1

The best thing about local flavors? They don't have to be transported hundreds of miles to reach you, losing nutrients (and yes, flavor) along the way. Instead, they are picked at peak ripeness, bringing an abundance of flavor directly to you. ✨

Other benefits to shopping and eating local? Connecting directly with your community, increased food security, and economic growth in the area.

See you at the market! πŸ’›
