The key to Market Basket’s success is variety. We prepare meals for takeout and delivery, handle catering and sell fresh produce, meat, seafood and baked goods. The patio is open to diners in warmer months, and we run a gift basket business in the basement. But most of all is our amazing and returning customers! A letter from Chef Carl to all:
It was my grandfather who started the family trade. From there, each generation below him has been dedicated to perfecting the arts of cooking and catering, furthering it a little bit in their own, individual way. It really seems that the lives and careers of my family members shape each other; we really work together, and always help each other out. I have been in the culinary and catering business for thirty years now, and I know what is really important to our customers and do my best to deliver it to them above and beyond their expectations. At the Market Basket, we know how much better food tastes when it is fresh out of the oven; that is why we cook everything from scratch, in our own kitchen, for that day. We are dedicated to quality, and are intent on making sure that the Market Basket only carries the best foods. We are a complete, family-size grocery store, carrying everything from steak to PB&J. In addition to that, we make a lot of specialty food of an international variety. One of the highlights of my job is getting to know all of the customers who regularly enter our store. Meeting people from different careers and all walks of life is truly interesting, and one of the best parts of my job. We really work hard so that our customers don’t see us as the distant owners, but personable people, just like them.
