The last few weeks here at The Heritage Homestead have felt like a whole year wrapped into a handful of days.

We said goodbye to our big, beautiful Holstein in a way we never wanted to. Losing her during labor broke our hearts. There are parts of homesteading that are quiet and beautiful… and parts that humble you fast. We’ve felt both deeply.

In the middle of that loss, the Lord provided. We were able to add a sweet A2A2 mama to the herd who is already in milk. It doesn’t replace what we lost — but it is a reminder that God is kind in the middle of grief. We are finding our rhythm again with chores, milking, and caring for everyone well.

The garden is waking up too. Herbs are tucked in around the fruit trees — hyssop, chamomile, thyme, bergamot — tiny signs of hope pushing through the soil. Peach trees are pruned, rows are prepped, and we’re dreaming about tomatoes, okra, and long summer evenings barefoot in the dirt.

There have been late nights checking animals, early mornings in the barn, and plenty of moments where we’ve had to pause and pray before making the next decision. Homesteading stretches you — but it also draws you closer to what matters most.

We’re grateful. For this land. For this community. For the way the Lord sustains both the herd and our hearts.

Thank you for being here and cheering us on.

A saying that sticks with me: “God gives us enough to share.”

I think of it every time I milk our cows, package and delivery milk, and make chocolate milk for my kiddo.

I took this picture Thursday when I was packing up milk for BCS pickup.

It blows my mind that we have all the milk my family could want AND it’s filling fridges in homes all around BCS.

What a crazy blessing!!

Something we love to do over here is mill our own flour!

It is something we have been doing for years so I thought I would share here.

What does this mean? We purchase (for now) our own wheat berries and then using our grain mill, we mill our wheat berries into fresh flour.

It makes for the most delicious and nutritious breads and pastries.

We have a partnership with one of the best brands, so if you are holiday shopping and want to get started milling your own flour - check out this shop and receive a discount!

Feel free to comment or message me with questions! I can talk about this all day long.

Looking Ahead: Our Homestead Goals for the Coming Year

Each new season on the homestead feels like a chance to start fresh — to dream a little bigger, learn from what worked (and what didn’t), and keep building something meaningful for our family and community.

This past year has been full of growth — not just in the barns and pastures, but in our hearts, our routines, and our vision for what this little homestead can become. As we step into the new year, we wanted to share a few of our goals and hopes for what’s next.

🌿 More Farmers Markets

One of our biggest goals is to be a part of more local farmers markets. We’ve loved every opportunity to meet people face-to-face, answer questions about raw milk, and share our story. There’s something special about seeing families discover the difference that comes from fresh, local food — and we can’t wait to do even more of that this year.

🐄 Expanding Our Herdshare

Our herdshare program has become one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We’re so thankful for the families who’ve joined us in this journey and supported small, local homesteaders. In the coming year, we hope to introduce even more people to the beauty of herdsharing and help them experience fresh, raw milk straight from the source.

🍓 Adding Freeze-Dried Goods

We’re excited to begin offering freeze-dried goods this year — including raw goat’s milk, whey, farm-fresh eggs, and even some seasonal fruits. These products will make it easier to enjoy nutrient-dense, shelf-stable foods that come right from our homestead.

🌱 Continuing to Grow Our Brand

More than anything, we want to keep growing our brand in a way that reflects who we are — a family passionate about living simply, working with our hands, and honoring the land God has given us. Whether that means expanding what we offer, showing up at more markets, or sharing more of our daily life online, we’re excited for all that’s ahead.

Thank you for following along and supporting our little corner of the world. Every kind word, purchase, and bit of encouragement means more than we can say. Here’s to another year of faith, hard work, and homegrown goodness. 💛

Let’s Talk About Milk Supply & BCS Pickup

We’ve had so much new interest in our raw milk lately, and we’re so thankful for everyone who’s wanting to support our herd and homestead! 💛

Because demand is high right now, we wanted to share how our milk supply works — and what’s coming soon:

👉 Our current supply is limited.
Until our next cow calves in January/February, we don’t have enough milk each week for everyone who wants some.

👉 How to get your milk:
Milk is available first come, first serve through our online store. You’ll need to reserve your milk online to guarantee it for the week.

💵 if you prefer to pay cash, apply the discount code CASH when ordering your milk or eggs and pay in person!

👉 Pickup Details:
📍College Station: Thursdays at 10:30 AM in the parking lot of Powersports
(You’ll see us there with your milk ready for pickup!)

👉 What’s ahead:
Once our cow calves this winter, our supply will increase and we’ll be able to serve more families on a regular basis!

Thank you all for your patience, excitement, and support — it truly means the world to us as we grow. 💕

🐄🥛 What’s a Herdshare (aka a Dairy Cow Rental)? 🥛🐄

We’ve had lots of new folks asking about our raw milk and how our herdshare program works — so let’s make it simple!

Think of a herdshare as a dairy cow rental. Instead of buying milk from us, you’re buying a share of the herd — meaning you legally own part of the cows that produce the milk!

Here’s how it works:

1️⃣ You “rent” your share by paying a small one-time membership fee ($10), which covers your two glass jars.

2️⃣ Then, you simply pay for your milk each week or as needed:
• $10 per gallon
• $6 per half gallon

3️⃣ You can pause or stop your share anytime — there’s no long-term commitment or subscription.

We handle all the daily work — feeding, milking, cleaning, and caring for our sweet cows — and you get to enjoy the freshest, most natural milk possible straight from the farm.

While we don’t exclusively offer A2/A2 milk yet, we’re breeding toward a fully A2/A2 herd as we grow! (If you’d like to learn what that means and why it matters, check out our recent post explaining A1 vs. A2 milk ).

Joining our herdshare means more than just fresh milk — it’s a chance to reconnect with where your food comes from and support a small, faith-based homestead with big dreams of becoming a licensed micro-dairy someday. 🌾💛

If you’d like to reserve a share or learn more, send us a message — we’d love to have you as part of The Heritage Homestead family!
