Stone Horse Farms is a small family run produce farm in Southampton County Virginia. ABOUT US:
Living in a world where manufactured foods are laden with chemicals that most of us have no idea how to pronounce or know what they are doing to our bodies health and our environment inspired me to focus on living a healthy lifestyle. My career in the pharmaceutical industry and educational background in

biological sciences has shaped the way I choose to farm. The more I studied the problems facing our planet and health issues caused by chemicals and pollution the more I wanted to go a step further. I became a farmer so I could be a part of changing the way we look at food our health and the delicate ecological balance between us and the planet. Stone horse farms is focused on using natural sustainable and energy efficient farming practices. By using bio-intensive farming to create a sustainable system of healthy food, soil, water and air we strive to have a limited impact on the environment. Stone Horse farms promotes a healthy ecology and provides our community with nutrient dense whole foods for a healthy life. Our mantra is "Growing a Healthy Future" because that is our goal to grow a healthy future for people and the environment.

About

I began my life as a potter after a career in the pharmaceutical science industry. I have spent my life as a student continuing to study and explore the world through knowledge and learning. The first time I stepped into a ceramics class was the moment I found my passion. In life’s responsibilities I had forgotten my love of art chasing a career, paying rent trying to grow and find my future. Being able to incorporate the journey of my life into my work and to share it preserves a history of the growth and experiences I have had and creates an amazing sense of fulfillment. The joy making pottery brings me by sculpting, forming and allowing the clay to run through my hands, the meditative peace of working in my studio is why I am first a potter and then everything else.

Pottery allows me to express my emotions through form and to bring those expressions to others. I believe it is the process of making different forms that brings me the most satisfaction, learning how to make something beautiful and to have it be enjoyed by others. From the science of creating my own glazes to the art of adding imagery to anything I create or surfaces I work on creating objects brings harmony and peace to my life that I want to share with the world.

Envisioning my work in people's homes as they enjoy using it, filling their cabinets, on dining room tables, and displayed throughout their homes allows me to feel like a positive influence in their life. From the simple cup of coffee that starts a day to the family meal that brings everyone together, to a favorite piece that makes someone smile when they need it creating art brings me the greatest of joys.
