They maintained a garden from then until we purchased the property in 2009. Although the garden is 139 years old, we decided to change the historical row garden to a raised bed garden patterned after the "four square" type. This allows us to grow more veggies in a smaller area and it requires much less water. We are sustainable, natural growers. We use natural and a family heritage means of sust
ainable farming to grow healthy plants and beautiful, healthy food. We believe it all begins with adding organic compost and maintaining a natural and healthy nutritious soil. We make our own compost tea and use kelp and sea weed to treat all new seedlings and plantings to nourish them through root and foliar feedings. We stagger our plantings with onions, marigolds, and garlic to discourage harmful, destructive insects and various floral combinations to invite all the ladybugs and other beneficial insects into our gardens. If any of the harmful bugs sneak through our first line of defense, then, we use homemade natural solutions to make garlic, herb and pepper spray to discourage them from snacking on our plants and veggies. Our motto is "We bring you our best and we eat the rest". We would never ask you to serve anything that we would not put on our own table.
