Some days…. The old memories hit harder than others!!! The one and only Heber Spencer… chatting with Emma Grace about new products for sample Saturday. Boy do I miss these conversations! He was such a treasure! Thankful for every memory!

This young man has been coming into this store since he was born! He’s always been my biggest fan… he always comes in armed with a story to share and he is a sweet blessing each time I get to spend time with him. He has always loved working the register with me! When he was really young I’d have to pull up the old stool so he could reach the register keys. Now days… he’s just about taller than I am! Today…. He used the register for the last time! Bradley…. It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce that we will be closing Fredericksburg Square Market. Our last day of operation will be Saturday January 15th.

We have been blessed to be part of this wonderful community. Serving our neighbors and teaching our children to do the same within these four walls, on these old wooden floors that so many have walked upon. We have never taken our role in the community lightly. This decision was not an easy one to make. We will forever treasure our time here. Forever cherish the conversations over the deli counters. We were blessed to share birthdays and holidays… and blessed to help you usher your loved ones off to heaven with funeral meals. We prayed over the deli trays and batches of ham salad and veggie dip that we made. All the while knowing that they would be shared with family and friends.

Unfortunately, times have changed. We live in a fast paced world where people are grocery shopping at big box stores and Dollar Generals. Grocery pick ups and bargain shopping. We can no longer compete with the contracts of these larger stores. Supply chain problems, COVID and a Dollar General being built in our own back yard have been the hardest obstacles to navigate. We can no longer survive.
Thank you for some of the happiest years of our life. Thank you to the loyal customers that have supported us over the years. We will continue to serve our community through other venues. We are forever invested in our community and especially in our Burg.
