~I never thought this would be a post that I would have to share....and quite honestly, it breaks my heart to do so. 💔 After SIX YEARS of partnering with me to help feed the hungry in this community...Martins has asked me to permanently remove the collection bin from their store. 😔 I was originally told by the current store manager TRACY SHOMAKER that it would only be moved out of sight until the store renovation and grand re-opening occurred. However, I received a phone call today saying that it needed to be removed immediately, as the corporate office said that it was never approved nor was the appropriate paperwork submitted to allow it?? I wasn't aware of any paperwork...and apparently, neither was the store manager who approved it at that time. I was told all stores have to be uniform in appearance, and the collection bin doesn't meet the criteria. I wasn't able to speak with Mr. Shomaker today, but did speak with another manager, MARTINA HUNTER, and she said I could have until tomorrow (3-6-26) to remove it.
This relationship with Martins has benefitted the entire community, in that shoppers could purchase food and drop them in the collection bin. Or they could donate money to purchase more food. It was a quick and easy way to donate for people who didn't want to drive around and drop off directly. It benefitted the store because people purchased those food items in store. This will most definitely cause a drop in donations due to the inconvenience alone. It makes me sad....truly. There are so many who suffer from food insecurity on a daily basis.
The pictures I've included are random ones from the last six years....including the first one with EUGENE, the store manager who approved the donation bin in 2019. 🙌❤️
I want to say thank you to all the wonderful workers in that store. You have helped me in so many ways throughout the years. We've shared laughs and stories, and it was a real pleasure to get to know each of you. Thank you for your dedication and help in packing boxes with the food donations....just to get them ready for pick up. Just know that each of you made a difference in the lives of people in this community. And for that....I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
