🥫 WHY HOMEMADE CANNED FOOD IS MAKING A COMEBACK 🌱

There was a time when nearly every family had shelves filled with canned vegetables, jams, pickles, sauces, and homemade foods prepared with love from their own gardens and local farms. Today, more people are returning to those traditions — and for good reason.

Homemade canned food allows people to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables closer to harvest time, helping maintain flavor and reducing waste. Instead of produce sitting in warehouses, trucks, and grocery stores for long periods, many canned goods at local markets are made in small batches using fresh seasonal ingredients.

One of the biggest differences between many homemade canned foods and mass-produced products is the ingredient list. Local makers often use simple ingredients you can recognize: 🍅 Fresh vegetables
🧄 Herbs and spices
🧂 Salt
🍯 Natural sweeteners
🌿 Family recipes passed down for generations

Many people enjoy knowing exactly where their food comes from and who made it. When you buy from local vendors, you’re not just buying a jar of pickles or salsa — you’re supporting families, farmers, traditions, and small businesses in your own community.

Canned foods can also help: ✅ Reduce food waste
✅ Preserve seasonal harvests
✅ Provide convenient ready-to-use meals and sides
✅ Support local agriculture
✅ Keep traditional food knowledge alive

And let’s be honest… homemade canned foods just taste different. The flavor, freshness, and care that go into small-batch foods are hard to match.

From fresh salsa and pickles to canned vegetables, jams, relishes, and sauces, these foods remind us of simpler times when food was made with patience, purpose, and real ingredients.

🤠✨ Meet Cattletude Designs ✨🛍️

Cattletude Designs by Elizabeth-Liz Gamelin Brown was built from strength, determination, and a desire to create something meaningful through one of life’s hardest moments. Over 5 years ago, after her one-year-old son suffered severe burns and was hospitalized in the pediatric burn ICU at Tampa General Hospital, laying in the hospital bed she realized life would never be the same. During that difficult season, she created a business plan that would eventually grow into Cattletude Designs.

What began in a simple 10x10 tent has continued to grow into a thriving business offering western stylish clothing, hats, accessories, and unique boutique finds. Through hard work, passion, and perseverance, Cattletude Designs has become more than just a business — it’s a testimony of resilience and growth.

Her vision is to continue expanding, bring in even more products, and grow into larger trailers with the goal of having two trailers within the next five years. Be sure to stop by, shop local, and support this incredible business and the story behind it! 🤎✨

🍞 FRESH BREAD VS STORE BREAD — WHAT ARE WE REALLY EATING? 🤔

For generations, bread was made with a few simple ingredients: Flour. Water. Yeast. Salt. Maybe butter, honey, or olive oil.

Today, many grocery store breads contain long ingredient lists filled with preservatives, conditioners, additives, emulsifiers, and chemicals designed to help bread stay soft on shelves for weeks at a time.

That’s why more people are returning to homemade bread, local bakers, and fresh-made loaves from farmers markets.

Recently, the State of Florida released bread testing results through the Healthy Florida First initiative. According to the Florida Department of Health, testing detected glyphosate residues in many popular bread brands, with some products showing “triple-digit” levels.

Glyphosate is the active ingredient commonly associated with Roundup w**d killer. The findings sparked conversations nationwide about food quality, transparency, and what families are consuming every day.

Health researchers and wellness advocates continue studying how pesticides, food additives, and ultra-processed foods may affect gut health and inflammation. Some experts believe these substances may contribute to disruptions in the gut microbiome and digestive discomfort.

And while debates continue about what levels are considered “safe,” many families are beginning to ask a bigger question:

Why does bread even need all these chemicals in the first place?

Fresh homemade bread is different.

When you make bread at home or buy from local bakers, you often know exactly what’s inside: 🌾 Flour
💧 Water
🧂 Salt
🍯 Natural ingredients
❤️ Time and care

Fresh bread may not last for weeks on a shelf — and honestly, that’s part of the beauty of it. Real bread was never meant to sit untouched for a month while still feeling soft.

Homemade bread also brings people together. There’s something special about the smell of fresh bread baking in the oven, kneading dough by hand, and sharing warm slices with family. Many people say homemade bread tastes richer, fresher, and more satisfying because it’s made with fewer processed ingredients and more traditional methods.

At local farmers markets, bread is often made in small batches with passion, patience, and pride — not mass produced in factories.

People are waking up and reading labels more carefully than ever before. They want simpler ingredients. Real food. Foods made by real people.

That’s one reason local bakers and fresh-made breads are becoming so popular again.

Support local bakers. Support fresh ingredients. Support real food. 🍞🌱

🥚 WHY FRESH EGGS ARE DIFFERENT
Fresh farm eggs usually come from chickens raised outdoors with better diets and less stress.
Their yolks are often darker, richer, and more flavorful than store-bought eggs.
Many store eggs can be weeks old before reaching shelves — farm fresh eggs are often collected the same day or week.
