May 13th It is great to be able to report that Snap/EBT is returning to the market this week. As Union Street continues to prepare to move and enter a new chapter of its history it is remains important to remember that the Monday Grove Street Market continues downtown and will have most of your favorite vendors transitioning to it. Both markets at this time are being graciously hosted by Cypress and Grove Brewery in the grassy area surrounding the brewery. Market times for both remain 4-7pm. Please come out and support both markets to help demonstrate that people desire the right to attend clean open air markets that are strenuously maintaining safe social distancing.
Here is what you should be at the market this week. Strawberries continue to yield. Broccoli and cauliflower are prolific. Cabbage is in full season. Some cut flowers are available as well as edible flowers. Salad mix, lettuce and arugula remain in season. Fennel, parsley and cilantro are available each week. Beans continue to be harvested. Radishes and turnips are abundant. Eggplant is increasing. Summer type squash is in season along with butternut and other winter squashes. Leeks, scallions, and Florida Sweet onions are being offered. Root crops such as ginger and turmeric remain prolific. Collards continue to yield. Market times for both markets remain 4-7pm. Please come out and support both markets to help demonstrate that people desire the right to attend clean open air markets that are strenuously maintaining safe social distancing which is not always seen in the our big box competitors that the city is promoting.
