Southern Sundance Cattle Company was founded by John Pournelle and Benjamin Glass. John is responsible for the operations and logistics of the business. He grew up working for his father’s construction company and being around his grandfather’s meat packing facility. John is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Florida in Agricultural Operations with specialization in ani
mal production and is exploring options for graduate degrees focusing on Meat Science. John wants to study and work on management practices that both improve composition and grading quality with respect to specific environments of beef cattle. Benjamin is responsible for the finances of the business, as well as advising customers on business practices of their operation. He grew up on a farm that has been in his mother’s family since 1867. There, he was introduced to agriculture in the cow/calf operations of his parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. Benjamin is attending the University of Florida and will graduate with his Bachelors of Science in Food and Resource Economics in December of 2015. He will pursue a Master’s of Science with a concentration in Agribusiness to be completed in December of 2016. Our mission is to provide local beef to consumers that is superior and economical. It is our mission to produce and provide quality cattle and promote products that are naturally processed with no preservatives or additives. In doing so, we work to build and support the local economy, optimize consumptive pleasure, and provide a superior product. We believe in conducting business with both integrity and moral character. We value our strategic partners and customers who allow us to have a positive effect on the business and agricultural communities, as well as, consumers. We are strategically partnered with a local meat packer in McAlpin, Florida. Mobley nearly 40 years ago. Mobley’s has maintained a thriving business by providing a higher quality and superior product processed with the same old-fashioned methods that L.J. Mobley learned when he began in the industry and still uses them today.
