The pumpkin patch is officially doing its thing. 🎃 we’ll have a limited supply at the farm stand this year..with dreams for a bigger community event in 2027.

While we’re still very much soaking up summer harvests, there’s something pretty special about walking past rows of pumpkins and knowing that fall is already growing right alongside us.

This is one of the things I love most about eating and living with the seasons—you’re always watching one season give way to the next.

For now, they’re little. Green. Hiding under vines. But give them a little sunshine, water and time… and we’ll have pumpkins. 🧡

Taking life advice from the ducks because, quite frankly, they seem less stressed than the rest of us. 🦆

Stay hydrated. Eat the good snacks. Yell when necessary. Travel with your flock. Waddle away from problems you don’t feel like dealing with.

No job. No bills. Zero shame. Honestly, they might be onto something. Happy farm box day, Santa Barbara!ll

A little farm magic 🐉🌵💗

Our dragon fruit is showing us what HEAT can do! One of my favorite things about growing food is getting to watch something this wild and beautiful come straight from the farm.

Fun fact: dragon fruit actually grows on a cactus, and its huge flowers bloom at night—often for just one night! 🌙

Bright pink on the outside, speckled and sweet on the inside, and almost too pretty to eat.

Just another reminder that there’s always something interesting & new growing around here. 🌱

Happy first week of school to all of our Something Good families! 🍎🌱

I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to summer. I love the long days, dirty hands, extra sunshine, and all that extra time with my kids. There’s something about summer that just feels a little slower and sweeter.

Back-to-school always feels a little daunting—the earlier mornings, packed lunches, new routines, and figuring out how to get everyone where they need to be. So this week, I hope your box makes one little part of it easier.

I hope it gives you something good to tuck into lunchboxes, something easy to put on the dinner table, and a reason to sit down and eat together when you can. To eat with your kiddos, eat with the seasons, and enjoy what the farm has grown to nurture us through this transition.

And at the very least, I hope it fills some bellies with really yummy food. ❤️

☀️Easy Recipe to Beat the Heat: Simple Caprese Salad

When it’s too hot to turn on the oven, this is one of my favorite lunches. It’s fresh, takes just a few minutes to make, and lets those summer tomatoes really shine.

Ingredients

* 2–3 Mountain Magic tomatoes (or one large tomato), chopped
* A generous handful of chopped fresh basil
* Fresh mozzarella, torn or sliced
* Extra virgin olive oil
* Balsamic glaze (or a splash of high quality balsamic vinegar)
* Flaky sea salt
* Fresh cracked black pepper

Directions
Combine the tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella on a plate or in a bowl. Drizzle generously with olive oil and balsamic glaze, then finish with a pinch of flaky salt and fresh cracked pepper.

Serve with a slice of crusty sourdough, and you’ve got the perfect no-cook summer meal.

This week sure was a gift. The weather was so much kinder than last week, and I know next week is shaping up to be another hot one.

Packing CSA boxes at 7:00 every Wednesday morning has become a rhythm I’ve really come to love. The music is blasting, everyone is in their groove, the vegetables are practically glowing in the morning sunshine, and this week it hit me…

This is my purpose.

For so many years, Carolyn poured her heart into this CSA. She faithfully held space for whatever the seasons had to offer and built something that connected our farm, our employees, and this incredible community of members. Stepping into her shoes has been both humbling and inspiring.

The person I used to be is no more. Becoming a mom to two beautiful kids, leaving my old career, and now taking the reins of Something Good Organics has felt like a rebirth of sorts—a change in seasons, not just on the farm, but in my own life. A reset. A different path than I ever imagined.

There are still hard days. There are moments where I question myself, wonder if I’m doing enough, or feel the weight of carrying something so many families depend on. But then Wednesday mornings happen. The laughter. The teamwork. The smell of fresh herbs. The dirt under our boots. Watching hundreds of boxes come together, knowing they’ll end up around dinner tables all over Santa Barbara and beyond.

And I remember exactly why I’m here.

Thank you for welcoming me, trusting our family to grow your food, pack your boxes, and continue the legacy Carolyn built. It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly, and I hope you can feel the love that’s packed into every single box.
