We’re heading into the last week of May, and the farm is truly shifting into that early summer abundance. The fields are warming up, the zucchini keeps giving, strawberries are finally catching up after a slower spring, and the fruit around the farm is beginning to feel endless in the best way.
This time of year always reminds me why eating seasonally matters so much — things arrive when they’re ready, sometimes all at once, and every week looks a little different because of it. Thank you all for rolling with the rhythms of the farm with us.

Thank you all for being here and continuing to support local organic farming with us. It’s a dying breed in Santa Barbara, and we hope to keep this movement going as long as we can. The fields are really shifting into late spring right now — some crops are wrapping up while others are just starting to take off. Tomatoes and eggplant may come soon!

Our CSA community keeps growing 🌱💛

Here’s our updated list of weekly pick-up locations across Santa Barbara + our new Carpinteria drop-site at Third Window Brewing 🍓🥬

From schools to coffee shops to neighborhood favorites, we’re working hard to make fresh, local organic produce more accessible for our community each week. Thank you for supporting local farming, seasonal eating, and the farming families behind the food.

Fun fact: when you order a box to a local school, SGO will donate $2 to the school.. per box ordered! Putting back into the local economy, community, and education for our future is what organic farming is all about. 💛

Thank you all for being here with us.

Orders close Sundays at 11:59pm ✨

There’s something so special about raising a family on the land that helps feed your community.

Hi SGO family,
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as the owner of Something Good Organics CSA. My name is Heather Givens, and alongside my husband, Bryan Givens — a life-long farmer at John Givens Farms — we feel incredibly grateful to continue growing and curating food boxes for this community we love so much.

Life on the farm is full, busy, messy, beautiful, and deeply rewarding. We have two young children who are at the center of everything we do. Most days, they’re running barefoot through the strawberry fields with our dogs, covered in sunshine and dirt, reminding us what this life is really about. Alongside the kiddos, we also care for our dogs, cats, goats, chickens, and ducks — there’s always something moving, growing, or needing love around here.

I may be new to this page, but I’m not new to the lifestyle of organic farming, local food, and the belief that food can truly connect people. One of the most meaningful parts of stewarding Something Good Organics has been being able to provide for our community, donate produce, and give back to places like La Casa de la Raza and our local schools.

To us, this CSA has always been about more than vegetables in a box. It’s about care. It’s about nourishment, community, generosity, and creating something good that reaches beyond our farm gates. We do this for our children, for your families, and for the future of local organic farming here on the Santa Barbara Coast.

Thank you for being here, for supporting the farm, and for believing in food grown close to home. We truly couldn’t do this without you, and we’re so grateful to be on this journey together. 🌱

🌿 Arugula + Parsley Pesto- use up those herbs!

A bright, peppery pesto that uses up your greens and goes on just about everything.

Ingredients:

2 cups arugula (packed)

1 cup parsley

1–2 garlic cloves

¼ cup nuts (walnuts, almonds, or pine nuts)

½ cup olive oil

½ cup grated parmesan

Juice of ½ a lemon

Pinch of salt

Directions:
Blend everything together until smooth. Taste and adjust salt, lemon, or oil as needed.

How to use it:
Toss with pasta, spoon over roasted zucchini, spread on toast, or add a dollop to eggs. It’s also perfect as a simple dressing for your CSA greens.

At the heart of all of this — the shifting harvests, the not-quite-ready broccoli, the abundance of greens — is exactly why a CSA exists. It’s a partnership. You’re not just buying produce; you’re sharing in the real rhythm of the farm. The wins, the surprises, the in-between moments where we wait and trust what’s growing.

Your support gives us the ability to plan, plant, and care for these fields with intention, without chasing perfection or grocery store expectations. It allows us to grow food the right way, and to keep going even when nature has its own timeline.

And in return, you get food that’s truly in season, grown with care, and a connection to something real.

We’re so grateful to be growing for you. 🌱
