Hey, what's the first rule of Fight Club?

Well lucky for us, this isn't Fight Club, so I'm gonna talk about it. Tyler and I have decided not to fight anymore. Our days of meeting in the parking lot are over. The green tent, the orange cones, all of it.

I am Jack's stunned surprise...
How could this happen? Why?
One of our vendors, BarryFreshGreens, has taken the idea of meeting once a week and created a new vision for the local hand crafted products form the indigenous peoples of around here and wants to take a run at making the scene bigger and more permanent. Change is often disruptive. We’re not blowing up any buildings or anything, but the reality is the amount of traffic at the Goodrich Farmers Market was not large enough to run both a Sunday market and an expanded presence in Goodrich at this time and make it worthwhile for the vendors. For the 2025 season, we are going to let Barry take the lead and build upon what we have created the past two years to bring you more options and better access to local food and artisan creations. We believe this has the potential to be much bigger than just 3 hours on Sunday afternoons, so it’s a shot worth taking.
What is it?
What indeed. That however is not for the Goodrich Farmers Market to announce as it is not our endeavor. We’re not supposed to talk about it after all. If you’ve been coming every week, you undoubtedly have made connections, will hear the rumors and you’ll find the new ring. Reach out to your favorite vendors (stay tuned for an upcoming post telling you where to find them) and ask what they’re up to this summer. This is not the end of Food Club.
Hopefully soon I’ll look around and see a lot of new faces, meaning a lot of you are breaking the rule and talking about it. We now have corporate sponsorship. This is how we will have farmers market every night of the week.

I know this post probably leaves you with more questions than answers and that is good. Talk about it. Tell each other. And when you find out where the new efforts will take place, go and support them. We have a lot of talented individuals in the area and they’re all still doing their thing. It’s just time to step out of the parking lot and into the future.
On a personal note, it has been a pleasure working to establish a locally sourced market for our community and I appreciate all the support this community has given our vendors. We had no idea what to expect when we started and to say all of us were pleasantly surprised at the welcome we received is an understatement. There are some exciting things bubbling up in Goodrich this year and I can’t wait for you to discover them! 🍻

The consensus among the vendors is that yesterday was the last week of the 2024 season. It is a week earlier than planned but after parties can be finicky things and they end when they end.
It was a good run this year. We welcomed a lot of new vendors and hopefully started some new businesses. We saw some old friends and made some new memories.
Of course some of our vendors participate in other farmers markets including the year round Davison market. Watch this page for a post about where you can continue to find your favorite vendors whether it's at other markets, or directly through their page or website.
Of course one of our vendors Porters Orchard is just getting started. I have not been yet myself this year, but I've heard the crowds out at the orchard are double what they were last year so it looks like cider season is going to be off the hook this year. They're just 1.5 miles away so if you're not ready to give up local fresh produce, swing out to see them next weekend. They've got fun for the whole family with hay rides, corn mazes, you pick pumpkins, petting zoo and more! They keep the party going through October so we're handing off the torch to them for the fall.

Goodrich Farmers Market After Party!

If you're not quite ready for the season to be over, you're not alone. These are your friends this week at the market. Same place (8071 S State Rd, Goodrich) same time (2-5pm) and some of the same vendors, maybe some new ones too! Yes, we've had a couple new applications this week who will be joining us during these last 3 weeks. We are still confirming dates, but be on the lookout. See out other post about our new vendor last week with beef, pork and chicken.

Ever been to one of those parties so good that the party ends but people don't go home?
That's what's going on at the Goodrich Farmers Market. It's over. It's definitely done. But the fun hasn't stopped and looks like it won't stop for weeks! Rather than being the ugly host telling everyone to get out, we're just going to roll with it. 😁🎉
If you didn't get enough either, come on by and join the After Party market. How is it different from the regular market? There will be a few less signs at the road. There won't be a greeters tent. That's about it. How will it be the same? Same great vendors, same great products and same convenient time: Sunday's 2-5pm at the Goodrich Methodist Church. If you garden, you know this is the time of year when harvest really kicks in, so the produce vendors should not be missed.
By the way - if you've wondered about being a vendor in the market, September is a great time to try it out. We are not charging vendors for a spot for any of our September dates (1st, 8th and 15th) so you can give it a try for free. A farmers market is very much a grassroots, of the people, by the people kind of scene. Daryl is the perfect match for that vibe. Daryl is a one man singer/musician playing a wonderful blend of covers and original tunes with heart and soul and a little bit of punk rock ethic. The joy he draws from his music and playing for people is obvious and infectious! Better still Daryl will be joining us today to celebrate the end of our season. "I've been meaning to get up to the Goodrich Farmers Market... I've been hearing such great things..."

Today is your LAST CHANCE for the 2024 season, so come up and check us out. While you're up there, grab some world famous tacos from Mexicrunch for dinner to go along with the treasures you find from our vendors.

While this may be the last official market, keep watching our page for updates about our after party. The market is so much fun, we have some vendors who just aren't ready to quit so soon. We are working on an after season schedule in a relaxed unofficial format for those who still have produce and goods to sell. We will post details in the coming days.

It's official. The end of the official 2024 season of the Goodrich Farmers Market is here. This week (8-25) is the last official day of the market.
But... I have heard rumors of an afterparty from the vendors, so don't stop following us yet! Of course you're all on the VIP list for the afterparty so watch for more details.
In the meantime, come out and celebrate this season with us this Sunday 2-5pm at the Goodrich Methodist Church (8071 S State Rd, Goodrich)
