It’s the law: pets are not allowed in the market. Sorry. Under section 6-501.115 of the Michigan Modified Food Code markets (even outdoor markets) with food vendors that make and/or package food at the market cannot have pets in the market. Service animals are, of course, welcome.

Since we are vendor managed we don’t always have time to share this specific information with everyone who brings a dog in. And, due to occasional confrontation when we ask people not to bring dogs in, some vendors are uncomfortable sharing the info.

Please, help us follow the rules. We don’t want to get fined for not enforcing state code.

SNAP/WIC/DUFB/Project Fresh reposted updates: We know it can take some time for changes to be known by our customers and community members. We did post the following information a few weeks ago, but will share it again.
The market is now vendor managed so it is no longer managed by a nonprofit (a requirement for a market-wide program). Because of this the vendors themselves will be accepting these programs instead of using the market-wide token system. Just go directly to these vendors to swipe your cards.
