A year of work comes down to just four weeks of cherry harvest 🍒

At Shoreline Fruit in Northern Michigan, crews spend the year pruning trees, caring for the soil and preparing the orchards for the next crop. When harvest arrives, they’re working around the clock harvesting 15–20 acres every day and processing up to one million pounds of cherries in just 24 hours.

Once harvested, the cherries are immediately cooled in an innovative hydro-cooling system before continuing their journey.

Across more than 4,500 acres in Northern Michigan and another 1,500 acres in Southern and Central Michigan, Shoreline Fruit grows and processes more tart cherries than any other company in the U.S., helping make Michigan the nation’s cherry capital.

Since 2008, Meijer has proudly partnered with Shoreline Fruit to bring Michigan-grown cherries from local orchards to our stores, and support the local farmers behind every harvest.
