We started cutting lettuce this week. Pictured are 3 varieties, Vivian(a bibb head type), Buttercrunch and New Red Fire (a red leaf variety with a mild flavor). Despite the dry weather the plants have produced nice size heads. Also available from the garden are radishes and kale. (Kale will be in the cooler on Wednesday the 3rd.)

We are fully stocked with eggs.
Asparagus is still in season, but slowing down. Praying for rain!

Here we go again! Another late spring. I spotted this beautiful guy on our feeder. He is really outstanding.
Our produce season is progressing abt like last year. I planted rasdishes March 26th and they finally sized up last week. The cool soil temps has delayed growth on everything (accept the grass). We currently have radishes, rhubarb and asparagus in the cooler. Asparagus supply is limited due to slow growth.
We have an abundant supply of eggs. The spring pullets we got at the end of March are laying nicely. There is also a good supply of jumbo eggs from last years layers.
We will be offering plants for sale as we get the tomatoes, peppers and sweet potatoes put in our garden. We currently have herb plants for sale.
Stop out and pick up some fresh eggs and produce.
One last item. We have puppies for sale again this spring. 1 female and 3 males
Purebred English Shepherds. Our old guy. Augie, passed away in January. We sure miss him.

Can you believe this weather? First it's hot, then it's cold. Mother Nature must be going through "the change".We expect to have the same varieties of vegetables as previous years. The chickens have increased laying (there was a slump in egg production from January thru February), and we picked up 150 new pullets which should begin laying in abt a month. The cooler in the market building has jumbo and large eggs and homemade cream puffs (available now until Easter or until they're sold out). We also have our own local honey and homemade jam. Hope everyone has a blessed Easter!

What a season! We're turning the corner into fall and I'm still amazed that the garden continues to produce with so little rain. I'm still picking green beans from a late planting and our carrot crop was generous. Tomatoes are fading. We have 3 varieties of potatoes and a big selection of onions. The bell peppers, jalpenos and yellow banana peppers are over producing. If anyone wants a quantity of any of these, just send a message.

The pears shown in the picture are Kiefer Pears
They are a good tasting pear that stays crisp and stores well. This was the "short year" for apples. We have a good supply of Granny Smith, Gala, Empire, Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious and Crimson Crisp.

Stop in and browse, the selection changes everyday. Just a safety note, if you come to the farm, please pull in to the bare lot. Do not park on the road as there is alot of farm implememts going by and they take up the whole road.

We started picking apples today! This early apple, Pristine, is my favorite! It has a crisp texture and incredible flavor which increases as it ages. It is a good keeper. Also available is John Boy peaches (limited supply). Pick just before tree ripe to avoid bruising.

And for the rest of the garden...we have slici g cucumbers, picklers, bell and ylw banana peppers, eggplant, kohlrabi, zucchini, new potatoes, cabbage, jalapeno and pablano peppers. Tomatoes are ripening and getting more plentiful every day. Stop out and pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables at 15133 Gteenhouse Av. Granville Il.
