Thank you for being a part of Deep Roots Farmers Market Great Neck history - we *thank* YOU for becoming a part of OUR history!
Words in any language can't even begin to describe what an unbelievably incredible Sunday we enjoyed for an Opening Day! This 5/31 was even busier than any previous bustling season day we've ever been blessed enough to experience. We had our absolutely greatest customer turnout yet - and this was our Season Premiere to boot! I know I speak for and to everyone when I say all our vendors, Park District, customers(!) and I look so very forward to what the coming weeks have in sto- or rather, 'market' - for us in 2026.
-To our vendors: The market happens because of you! All of your hard work, work ethic, dedication, devotion, determination, and so much more is so very clear in everything you make and do. Your creations whether indeed homegrown, homemade, and handmade - are a direct extension, expression, and exclamation of yourselves! You feed us, sustain us, clothe us, and sustain us, and it really begins with you. I know I have as much pride in you and your wares as you take in producing them. Each of you has just as much to be proud of your own handiwork as you should be of your own selves!
-To the Great Neck Park District: The market happens because of you! You make our being at beautiful Jonathan l. Ielpi Firefighters Park possible. You also allow us to continue to honor him with our presence at the park that deservingly and eponymously bears his venerable name, and we feel his presence guarding us everyday. Hardworking park staff, social media wizards, commissioners, and the like all pitch in to facilitate immeasurable behind-the-scenes logistics that so many may overlook, dismiss. or forget. Rest assured I work as hard alongside you to ensure none are the case!
-To our customers: The market happens because of you! You enthusiastically welcomed our FOUR BRAND-NEW vendors with the famous communal warmth that makes Great Neck great! And they'll be back throughout our season too! Your backing of our entire Deep Roots Farmers Market family makes you, as you have always been, part of our Deep Roots Farmers Market *CUSTOMER* family. 'Customer', 'patron', even 'supporter' don't encompass just how much you mean to us. Maybe 'lifesaver/'livelihood-saver''? You are the end-of-day reason we are still here in Great Neck!
-And to our dear late founder: Amy Peters. She began her own vision of Deep Roots Farmers Market to spotlight the *deep roots* of local goods from our own vibrant home island/city/state. From the Gold Coast to the South Shore, Manhattan to Montauk, and the Hudson Valley to the harbors of New York, she simply kept it simple, helping vendors and customers alike share what our neighbors have in our kitchen of melting pots. Amy helped us realize the beautiful bounties around us that a commercialized world often overshadowed- and kept us grounded to our: roots! Never risking we ever forget who we are, or where we come from. A year and a half after her untimely passing, we deepen those roots of her own mission, memory, and legacy - for in keeping her dreams alive, she lives on through them all.
Gratitude again continuously to our vendors, our customer patron supporters, the Great Neck Park District, and of course Amy. Without any of you, the market doesn't exist - and it only exists because of each of you, and all of you together. We are indeed strongest when together! And we always shall be.
