Appalachian American Homestead

Appalachian American Homestead Backyard Farming in West Virginia Micro farming or backyard farming is what we do here. A summer garden with canning and freezing.
(1)

Starting out with rabbits and now chickens with other animals to follow as we get more space. We try to sustain ourselves away from the supermarkets and all the things they put in our foods. Hunting and fishing to fill the freezers. The more space we have, the more we do. If we had more land we would raise our own beef and pork. Knowing what goes into your food is important, it may cost you more to do it yourself but in the end it is so much healthier for the family.
