Over 40% savings.

That was the result when Spectrum News reporter Melissa Krull compared a basket of everyday grocery items that she purchased at Bargain Grocery against prices at national big box stores in the area during her live report at 5 on Wednesday.

Melissa recently did a story on rising grocery costs and how families across our region are finding ways to save money. As part of the segment, she visited our store and put our prices to the test by shopping for everyday grocery items.

Her total came to $28.73. She then compared the same items to national big box stores in the area and found the total would have been $51.

Melissa shared how surprised she was by the difference in price and by how much customers can save on everyday essentials at Bargain Grocery.

Customers have been asking, so we got it. Fresh cold cuts. Ham, provolone, and all kinds of different cheeses. Let me know if you love this so we can keep sending it down.

Galia melons are delicious. They are a cross between honeydew and cantaloupe. Seriously, I can’t go back to eating honeydew or cantaloupe by itself. Check comments ⬇

Amish farmer hanging flowers. These are grown and brought locally from the farm to the store. These are not trucked in or left sitting in a truck. They are from Central NY and grown by an Amish farmer. Because of this, they are bigger and last a lot longer than the big box store flowers.

We have Poland Spring water. Get them right now because these are hot. Customers started buying them right off the jack pallet.

Lesser Evil Popcorn. I have been told by our customers this is the popcorn favored by the girlies. Easy to digest.

Customers cried today as they were walking out with Amish hanging flowers. They said they were having a hard time finding these anywhere else. Everywhere they went, they were more expensive and sold out. Thank you to our Amish farmer for sending these for our customers.

Every week people ask me about our famous chicken nuggets. So many of our customers tell us they are the one.

Fresh from the Chobani factory we have boxes of Chobani including Flips. Thank you Chobani for supporting us and our customers.

Get these Baresi rigatoni. These are made and imported from Italy. This is not the same as the pasta you buy at the big box stores. I have been told by customers that are sensitive to gluten that pasta made in Italy is easier for them to digest.

Customers have told me they love these Benedetta Italia DOP San Marzano tomatoes.

We just got these Kraft bowl mac and cheese. Perfect for the kids afterschool snack or lunch at work.

My favorite chips, On The Border Cafe Style chips. I love these because the saltiness is balanced. Some chips have salt that is too overwhelming.

Everything spiced salmon. Salmon dinner with the everything butter spice. I believe this is the same everything seasoning on bagels. This sounds delicious.

I love kiwis. These are great for marinades for proteins, and if you need some help with digestion, this is the fruit. I have one every other day and my tummy is happy.

Cantaloupes. Love cantaloupes and I have it to make me full in the morning, and I add cottage cheese.

We have more vegetable trays. Customers tell us they use these instead of eating chips.

Customers have been thanking us for the good paper towel and toilet paper. This is not institutional paper. This is the good good stuff.

One of my favorite cheeses is Havarty. Add jalapenos to that and make into a dip and it is a match made in heaven.

Do you love garlic? Do you hate peeling garlic? Love these Garland peeled garlic and I grind up and freeze. Makes it so easy to use.

We have more Heidelberg bread. You know I preach freezing this great bread. The internet says it’s better for you, and when you don’t put preservatives in the bread or chemicals like Heidelberg does, it keeps longer.

I feel sorry for people who can’t eat cilantro cause of a gene. Cilantro is life.

David reduced sodium seeds. The internet says sunflower seeds are great for lowering inflammation.
