Cushaw Squash. Let’s talk about it.🤍💚

We had these at the stand last year, but I didn’t even think that many of you might not have known what these beauties are or what they can offer you!

💚This variety of squash dates back to 7000BC
🤍Native Americans first domesticated the cushaw from wild ancestors in Central America.
💚Native Americans, both South and North of the border, have grown this large, squash bug and vine borer resistant variety since prehistoric times.
🤍They feature a bulbed bottom with a long, curved neck and a distinct corky stem, typically weighing up to 20 pounds (but small ones are just as good!) with green stripes over a white or pale green rind.
💚The mild, sweet flesh can be roasted, stewed, used in soups or used in traditional baking just like pumpkin!🎃
🤍Its highly prized large silver seeds are also rich in oils and protein, and can be eaten raw, roasted, dried, or ground into powders.

Different sizes of Cushaw squash will be available this weekend!

We were so inspired by Bridges Craft Pizza and Wine Bar ‘s Heirloom Tomato Salad with Zaring's Produce that we had Saturday for our Anniversary dinner that we HAD to make our own on our actual anniversary 😜
We even picked up a Bacon Jam from Bridges for it!

🍅🤍🌿Heirloom Cherokee Purple, Dad’s Sunset & Brandywine tomatoes & Basil fresh from the garden, fresh mozzarella, olive oil, balsamic, salt & pepper and lots of bacon jam!

Food is our love language ❤️
