There's a phenomenon that occurs at the end of every farmers market season. I've experienced it many times as a vendor and now as the organizer of a really awesome market. There's built-up anticipation for the market and folks are really excited at the beginning, and our neighbors turn out in droves. Then after the first 6 to 8 weeks, foot traffic begins to slowly decline. It's subtle at first, then stark.
There are the diehard farmers market people who come out rain or shine and even place orders with their favorite vendors in advance, and we are so very grateful that we can count on their constant support. But for some vendors, that's not always enough. We know that our community loves us and supports us and values what we bring to market. We hear it week after week. We also understand the pivot from winter to spring that means everyone wants to get outside as outdoors activities and team sports and league play begin. We are asking that you not forget about the local small businesses who only exist to enhance the lives of the communities we serve.
Our market runs from 9 to 1, but our vendors are often set up much earlier and are ready to serve customers well before 9 AM. Come early. Come later. Just please come, and stay awhile if you can. We still need you.
We thought it appropriate to share a message that lets you know how very much we rely on you week after week, when the weather is frightful outside and even when the weather is delightful. We're still here. We're still making. We're still baking. Farmers are still growing. Growers are still harvesting. We're still counting on you.
The 2026 season of Frosty Farmer Winter Market is coming to a close this Saturday, April 18, and I know you agree that hard-working, local farmers, growers, bakers and makers deserve our community's support from start to finish. Help us end our season with a great big bang that won't soon be forgotten. Come to our final market which is also our big plant starts and plant sale where all of our green-thumbed growers will be in the house, 107 vendors in all. We still need you!
