We're already flying past the halfway mark of our second season so we wanted to formally share our mission as community Farmers Market organizers and volunteers! ๐
Our mission is to help strengthen the local Round Valley and Greer economies by empowering small business owners to expand their reach and more efficiently scale their profits without having to take on the cost and risk associated with opening a brick and mortar location.
Our goal, this summer and beyond, is to facilitate weekly community events (locations switch every Saturday (9am-1pm) between Greer and Eagar from June-September, excluding Greer and Eagar Days weekends) where both local folks and summer visitors can hang out with their neighbors and support small business owners.
We are actively looking for vendors who sell the following items, with 20% off vendor donations for your first four markets:
- Microgreens, Herbs, Garden Vegetables & Fruits, Eggs, etc.
- Sandwiches, Burgers, Burritos, etc. Hot Food Stands
- Muffins, Cake, Frozen Cookie Dough, etc.
- Freeze Dried or Canned Fruits & Vegetables
- Frozen Casseroles, Soups, Pasta, Burritos, Tamales, Meal Prep - Boxes etc.
- Yogurt & Granola, Protein Bites, Granola Bars, etc.
- Chips, Tortillas, Salsa, etc.
- Jerky
- Hummus & Pita Chips
- Crackers & Snack Packs
- Peanut, Almond, Nutella Butters
- Spice mixes
- Tea mixes
- Freshly squeezed juices
- Honey
- Fudge & Candy
- Candles & Cards
- Flowers
If you need help getting your cottage food license or learning how to properly price and package your goods donโt hesitate to contact Stormy Orona, who can help point you in the right direction and give advice. Additionally, no official LLC or formal business setup is required to sell at the farmers market.
We also highly encourage folks to look into avenues to purchase certain items, such as honey, produce, flour, beans, etc. in bulk and become local resellers or even help an established business from the Phoenix valley, Tucson, Showlow, and beyond to open up another โlocationโ here in Greer and Round Valley.
This community event is completely volunteer organized and all vendor donations are used to purchase marketing materials, pay our lovely host facilities, and to help supplement produce purchased from other non profit organizations, such as Borderlands Produce and other Arizona farmers.
Our recommendation for weekly vendor donations:
- Free for Farmers & Ranchers or any stand selling produce, herbs, and micro greens from your garden
- $15 if reserving a season pass
- $25 if reserved the week of
- $35 if reserved the day of
- $45 if paid late
Our goal is to have two vendors from each category every week, which would allow for a healthy marketplace to thrive and to give community members a bit of variety with their purchases.
We feel confident estimating that a vendor from one of the above categories could make anywhere from $250-$1,000 per weekend, depending on the product, competition, and weekly foot traffic.
We want to give a HUGE thank you to the Greer Community Center and Wildfire Espresso for hosting - we truly wouldnโt have been able to facilitate this event without your support!
And finally we are so so grateful for all of the vendors whoโve shown up weekly and braved the tent damaging gusts of wind and for all of our amazing White Mountain neighbors who come and purchase products from our small business owners - we love to see our dollars staying local!
