Compass Plant CSA We are Grinnell's first established consumer supported agriculture group (CSA). Compass Plant CSA was formed in 2000 and has been serving the area since.

We focus on environmentally responsible farming practices in our gardens and with our livestock. Compass Plant CSA has been in operation in the Grinnell/Poweshiek Iowa area for 22 years. We offer a buffet style of Community Supported Ag. share to our members. By coming to distribution day you select what produce you want to take home for your eating pleasure. Along with locally grown, chemical fr

ee produce, we offer pastured poultry products, farm fresh eggs, grass fed pork products and a selection of breads. Compass Plant CSA distributes weekly shares from May to October, and bi-weekly until December. We also proudly participate in the Grinnell Farmer's market which is held twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays from May to October. We are still in finger healing mode, so breads 🍞 are on the end of the list for parket prep.
BUT! BY SOME MAGICAL ALIGNMENT, I have found time between tasks to bake the Dakota bread for tomorrow. Sourdough is on the docket, if the stars 🌟 align. We will still have lettuce, herbs 🌿, Asian greens, eggplants 🍆 and LOTS of Beef, Pork and Chicken. Eggs 🥚 too!

Update on Lisle:

Most of the stitches are out. BUT, one seems to be embedded in the scar. They opened it up to encourage that area to expel the stitche,but he has more follow ups. So, there will be sourdough bread at market, but no other choices. Haven't found my doppelganger to share the work!

We did get to the market today! We will have basil, breads, eggplants, cabbages, leeks, 🥚 and grassfed 🐔 beef and pork. Lisle is home resting more comfortably now his surgical site has been redressed and a different pain killer provided. Wish me luck!

Once again.....

[email protected] will NOT be at Thursday Grinnell farmers market this week. We have a scheduled surgery to fix Lisle's finger tomorrow. The offending cable is seen with Oakley in picture 1 and Lisle recovering from having his hand examined today. He's ok, but will have 2 fingers of similar length on his left hand after tomorrow. 😟😷 We plan on being at Grinnell farmers market on Saturday this week.

NEVER USE A CABLE AS A DOG LEAD!

Unfortunately, Lisle found this out the hard way. At Grinnell farmers market yesterday Oakley and Lisle were walking and Oakley bolted after a squirrel. This caused the cable to wrap around his finger and caused significant damage to it. 1st photo shows the field dressing applied and 2nd one is the temporary dressing. He will have to have a surgeon close the wound. The phrase, take a little off the top, should only be used when getting a haircut.

Because of this setback will be at Saturday's Grinnell farmers market with lots of tasty meat products 🥩🥓🍗, 🥚 eggs, and some herbs and veggie. No bread😪😔. Not enough time to bake.
