Three fellas went deer hunting- a doctor, a  lawyer, and a preacher. Each shot the same big buck at exactly the same time. A heated debate follows about whose shot actually killed the deer. A game officer comes by, takes a look at the buck, and confidently announces he knows whose shot. "It was the preacher who got the buck!“ "What? How do you know?!“ The other two demand. The officer says, "Easy. The bullet went in one ear and out the other.”

This season, Sallee Meat Processing processed 3,365 animals, reflecting the trust of hunters from across the region and beyond. Species processed included white-tailed deer, axis deer, fallow deer, red stag, bear, moose, elk, bison, feral hog, antelope, oryx, watusi, audad, and gemsbok.
Animals came from 68 Oklahoma counties, 15 states, and two countries— the US and Canada. From backyard whitetails to once-in-a-lifetime trophies, each animal was individually handled with care, rooted in years of experience.

 Sallee‘s received 132 deer, resulting in 6476 pounds of meat given to families through the Hunters Against Hunger program. The nutritious meat was distributed to three different local food banks. This will serve 25,904 single meals!

We are delighted to announce the birth of our eighteenth grandbaby, Koa Wade Sallee. Proud parents are Hunter and Megan.

Three generations of the Pendergrass men hunt together on a small family plot of land along the Cimarron River near Perkins, Oklahoma. Dad and now Grandpa (aka Paw Paw) patiently taught each of the boys how to hunt, passing not just skills but patience and respect for the land. Today, Paw Paw enjoys seeing his two grandsons (Corbin and Taron) hunt now with the grown-ups. Together, they plan food plots, study trail cams, and map out the best plan of attack. Just as important as the strategy is the quiet-shared moments of stillness where lessons are learned without words and memories are made side by side.

The deer was brought into the after-hours cooler after being hunted on the last day of closing season, January 15th!

The end of deer season is here, but we'll still take in those frozen deer through the weekend. Dig out that freezer deer and let it start thawing. And wouldn't you know it, now that the season's over, those trophy bucks will probably begin to pose for your trail cams.
