A Better Chance A Better Community(ABC2) is gearing up to feed area children and their families this holiday season.

ABC2’s 2022 Community Thanksgiving Dinner will provide 500+ families an opportunity to enjoy a complete holiday meal for The Thanksgiving Holiday at No Charge!

ABC2 is seeking donations and sponsorships to ensure the Community Thanksgiving Dinner is a success.

Dinner will be served at the Dawson Resiliency Hub on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2pm. There will be live entertainment, community resource sharing information, and so much more.

ABC2 wants to bless every child in this community to experience the joy of having a Thanksgiving dinner with their family and community.

ABC2 is a nonprofit organization which connects rural communities with resources to activate youth power and advocate for realistic solutions and healthier lifestyles. ABC2 has established a resiliency and food hub at the former Dawson Elementary School to serve Halifax and Northeastern NC.

ABC2 also deliver weekly food boxes, hot/cold meals, and community forums on important issues facing the communities.

ABC2 is a 501c3 nonprofit and oversees numerous programs to help increase access to local & fresh produce, including being a Human Service Organization (HSO) which delivers healthy food boxes, hot/cold meals to medicaid clients, produce box distributions and monthly Food Bank.

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will provide an opportunity to bring the children and families together at the Dawson Resiliency Hub. Your donation will ensure the meals

PRESENTERS: Nick Wood and staff of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association; Q&A will follow.

Do you care about sustainable agriculture and food security? Do you want to learn more about how the Farm Bill impacts those important issues? If so, the North Carolina Food System Advocacy Coalition’s Farm Storm 2021 campaign is right for you!

The Farm Bill is a gigantic piece of federal legislation that is passed by Congress every five years and deals with everything from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), conservation programs, programs supporting local food systems, and much more. The next Farm Bill will be in 2023, but the time to begin our advocacy is now! Join the Coalition for The Farm Bill: A Brief Introduction to learn more!

Goals/Objectives:

Educate ourselves about the Farm Bill to better understand this monumental piece of legislation.
Bring new advocates into the coalition
Prepare to develop our policy priorities (and getting to share with national leaders!)
The campaign finale will be an exclusive listening session with leaders of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) at 6:00 p.m on Thursday, October 28th.
