Oh no! Summer has come and gone, there’s only 4 markets left to shop local at Hancock!
You don’t have to resort to old storebought produce this winter.
🧄 🧅 Stock up on cured potatoes, garlic and onions (or blanche and freeze).
🥕 🍲 You can freeze onions, celery and carrots for soups
🍅 Tomatoes can be frozen whole or cooked down and frozen/canned.
🎃 Squash can be cubed and roasted for fall and winter soups.
🌶️ Cucumbers, beets, peppers, and green beans can be pickled in vinegar for summer nutrients all season.
🥬 Herbs and kale can be chopped and frozen for flavor all winter!
🥖 BREAD can be frozen!
If you’re overwhelmed by food preservation - ask a farmer, or pick one crop to preserve this year, be it squash or tomatoes.
Or just enjoy eating the last of the fresh stuff this fall, like a bear before hibernation 🐻
Don’t miss these last sweet weeks of September. It’s the best time of year for weather and harvest. 5+ local farmers and more bakers and artists await you! 🍁 🥔 🥦
2-6 PM on the Quincy Green every Thursday throughout September. Our last market will be Oct 1st.
