YAK BREAK!!! 😳
Last night, Dave and I ran down to the beach to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We had some of our favorite treats and were just finishing putting everything on the picnic table when we got a frantic call from my parents and Scarlet that the yaks were OUT!! Like out of the fenced pasture, FREE! Yikes!! We’ve worried about this since we got them!
We packed up our picnic faster than you can say “Yakkity Yak” and got back to the farm so fast!
Val, Eleanor, Pearl, and Shirley were all happily out of the pasture!! (Betty, Gilda, and Rufus were good yaks and stayed in 😊).
They had busted through a whole corner of the fence!! What then proceeded, as my Mom described from where they watched from their porch, was the first ever “YAK RODEO”!
Dave, myself, and Scarlet had to corral the ladies back into the fenced pasture. Pearl and Shirley had some fun, running and playing keep away before they eventually went in - Gah!!! It was crazy, kind of wish we had someone video taping it, but we were all hands on deck!
All are safe, we patched the breakout spot the best we could last night, but we have some work to do!
On that note, we are skipping the Market this week as we need to do lots of fence work. Now that they know they can, we need to fortify the fence as a whole. Darn Smart, Sassy girls!
We’ll miss you, but know that we’re working on making things better and stronger for our beautiful Yaks! (Troublesome too! lol).
Talk soon and take care 🥰
