๐Ÿ€ Luck of the Irish? Maybeโ€ฆ

Weโ€™re not sure, but it appears weโ€™ve come out of this Arctic blast relatively unscathed.

While all blooms that were open โ€” and several that were in the pink stage โ€” did not make it, everything else appears to be in good health.

A big thank you to Fraley Aerial Applications and Squier Farms for bringing out a fleet of drones and flying all night into mid-morning, trying to force down any warm air they could find trapped above the crop. ๐Ÿš๐ŸŒ™

First blooms of the season bring our first sleepless nights of the year! ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ‘

Yesโ€ฆ cold weather is on its way. But contrary to what most people think, sub-freezing temperatures do NOT equal total crop loss.

While peach buds that are already in bloom can be damaged around 18ยฐ, buds that are less developed can withstand much colder temperatures.

Fortunately for us, peach trees set about 8 times more fruit buds than they actually need, and those buds develop at different stages. That means even if some are lost, others can still make a crop.

Unfortunately, thereโ€™s not much we can do but keep a close eye on the weather and hope for the best.

In the meantime, weโ€™ll keep busy transplanting tomatoes and petunias while Mother Nature does her thing.

Looks like someone didnโ€™t pay much attention to ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ญ๐š๐ฐ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฅ this year. Spring is moving right along, and if the weather holds, our peach trees will be in bloom by this time next week! ๐ŸŒธ

That means weโ€™re officially on the countdownโ€ฆ

If youโ€™ve heard me say, โ€œIโ€™m living the dreamโ€ when asked how Iโ€™m doing โ€” well, maybe itโ€™s not exactly a dreamโ€ฆ but getting to work every day with my kids and their friends sure makes me one of the luckiest people on earth.

I might be cut from a little different stone than most, and Iโ€™m not one to hand out a lot of โ€œatta boys,โ€ but this crewโ€ฆโ€ฆTheyโ€™re going to be just fine.

Only 7 more weeks of peach season left, and with the weather drying up, the peach flavor is at its absolute best right now. ๐Ÿ‘
