We’ve got updates from the farm!
For those of you that are new over the past 2 years, we are The Ge**er’s, see pic 3! We have owned and operated our small u-pick farm since 2014, offering strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. Each year is different as our family grows and the weather changes. We haven’t been open much the past 2 years, but this year we have a small crop of strawberries (see pic1), and later blueberries, to share with you!
We are a busy family with 4 kids ranging in ages from 14 to 8. This is an extra hobby we add to our busy list of full time teaching and coaching at our local high school, as well as chasing kids from here to there. It’s a family affair, we get lots of cherished, quality time with our kids in our patch.
Picture 2 shows you our most recent journey. Our second oldest, Abe, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia this winter and we are currently living in KC for 30-35 day increments at time. You can follow his journey on our Caring Bridge site, Battle with the Blood, if you want to read up on how that’s going. Overall he is doing great and we have had amazing help and support from friends and family to keep the farm alive through the very cold January we had. But his next 2 rounds will continue throughout the summer, keeping one parent away most days.
So that brings us back to picture 1…strawberries!!Battling in KC with Abe leaves us short handed at home and on the farm; our eldest, Cora, has been an amazing farm hand keeping the weeds at bay and tending the blueberries! We are so excited to offer you our u-pick fruit as often we can!! We will be posting picking opportunities once these storms finally blow past, probably Thursday. Please be patient with us, returning calls and messages is tough right now, but I will post here any updates and opportunities that have to do with the farm as well as how to get appointments as they come available.
Have an amazing last few weeks of spring and school! We hope we get to see you on the farm this summer!
