This post is to help clarify a post and comments on another page…
· HHG has been for sale for over a year. Our realtor, A & J Statewide, did a great job and marketed the store in various investment markets. They received one very low, suspicious verbal offer by phone from someone who never even looked at the building. As a matter of fact, no one has looked at the building. This was never an actual offer in writing unlike the inappropriate rumors posted by unknowing people claiming to know. This is the only inquiry we ever had, so no; we did not pass on a qualified offer as wrongly stated in other groups
· As HHG lost money every year, it has become apparent that Harrisville unfortunately cannot support a grocery store. Therefore, we will move forward with dismantling and selling off all of the equipment in the near future
· Harrisville has sustained some huge business losses the past couple years. It was devastating to learn that Village Lanes will not be reopening. A bowling alley is such an iconic needed business in our community, especially in the winter months
· We are looking to once again invest in another business. We are assessing our options in Harrisville as well as in other communities that we invest in
· We did provide a written purchase agreement to the seller of Village lanes for his full asking price, we then would have renovated and reopened it as both a bowling center and with abilities to host events. Sadly, our offer was rejected
· We are now pursuing our plan B…. to renovate HHG’s building to become an all-new bowling alley as we fully understand the value of a bowling alley for this community
· We would hope to have the city and community support in whichever direction this goes. This community really needs to decide when enough is enough. We can still make Harrisville the wonderful city it is meant to be, but some will have to stop chasing away the few investors wanting to invest in Harrisville
· Since I love Harrisville Heart of Alcona is a private group and posts cannot be shared to non-members. I am posting here in case anyone is looking for a way to share this post. Thank you

Why you don’t believe everything you read on the internet:
• This was posted on FB and sent to me by someone
• As per usual it is an individual claiming to know all the “facts”, with no connection to the owner or the business whatsoever, I don’t even know the poster or his name
• This guy is so much better looking than me, and from the looks of it very wealthy
• Just showing that people shouldn’t always believe comments about individuals that a FB poster whom has never ever met
• People should be very leery of any comments about businesses when NONE of these FB posters are privy to any of the financial records or business decisions of that business
• The disinformation about businesses and business owners in our area is a very large reason for the current state of Alcona County, really hope it changes for everyone’s benefit
• And for final clarification this poor individual is not the owner of HHG, not even close, I hope FB posters will be respectful and not draw him into any of the shenanigans

• This store ceased operation in February. Through the discourse of winding down operations legal counsel highly recommended that the facility and the parking lot be secured to the best of abilities. This is done to minimize liability, which every business owner must do in order to protect their business, investment and assets.
• On private property creating an area of no parking is the normal way to mitigate liability exposure. It is the norm, and it is a very common practice. Towing of cars from private property is a normal practice and protects the rights of the owner of the private property. Even in Tawas and Oscoda there are many posted lots, for both operating and non-operating businesses. If you unlawfully park your car there, your car will be towed, it occurs frequently.
• Fencing off the lot was considered, but it is not allowable by City of Harrisville Ordinances. Barricading of the lot creates hazards that can actually increase liability.
• The County owned building directly South of HHG is posted with the exact same signs and contracts with the exact same towing company. This is a PUBLIC building and does have operating businesses in it.
• The contracted towing company provided and installed the multiple signs, performs the tow service and collects the fees. If the towing company sees a car in the lot they are obligated by the contract to tow it. It is their business and the revenue generated pays for their services, none of the fees collected are provided to the property owner. This is all according to Michigan laws and the jurisdictional law enforcement division is required to participate in the process.
• Even while this facility was open and operating this parking lot has experienced repeated issues throughout the years. For example in January of 2017 an event occurred on 1st Street that then ended in our parking lot. The synopsis is; “A fight started by post office, guy beating another guy with a bat, ended up chasing him with his car, hit him into our railing on the deck area. The guy crawled into the store with blood coming out of both ears, ambulance and police arrived pretty quick, don't know how the guy is doing yet.” That was sent by a HHG employee whom was present at the time. The report is #46-17 at Alcona Sherriff, and ultimately the attacker did end up being convicted and jailed. But the end result was damage to the facility and a legal issue for this business.
• During events (like the Fireworks), the store parking lot was repeatedly utilized as a “tail gate” area by people, with open alcohol and other issues which of course are illegal both in Michigan and the City. Not only is this a huge liability issue but also violates Michigan Liquor Control laws and jeopardizes the stores Liquor License.
• Many people during the past two weeks told us other Harrisville business owners told them they should park in HHG Parking Lot for the Fireworks. In past years there has never been this many cars parked in the HHG lot for the Fireworks event.
• We have surveillance of our parking lot, not just for our liability protection but also for the health, wellbeing and safety of the community. As an example a tragedy occurred less than one year ago in the parking lot of a different Alcona County Business. After having been there for several days the body of a deceased man was found in a car of a business’s parking lot. https://www.truenorthradionetwork.com/victim-at-kris-mart-identified-as-hillman-man/
• All of the above and more are reasons why this parking lot is not public parking.

• The evening of the Fireworks saw numerus cars in the private lot. The tow company witnessed this and performed their service. But as a statement of fact there were ZERO cars towed, they were “booted” and then released. The number of cars was 7 (not 50 as some report on the internet, the lot does not even hold 50 cars), and all were released on site without being towed. Contrary to other statements on the internet there were ZERO families or out of town visitors stuck without a vehicle in relation to this parking lot.
• Interesting for years how many residents of the city barricade their driveway and yard for the firework event, obviously, like many cities, parking is an issue.
• Interesting the City had a car towed off of a public street just two weeks ago.
• Very normal for Cities to work with business owners to “rent” their lot for $1.00 for events, the municipalities then insure the property owner for the rented parking lot during such events.
We are hoping the details above provide clarification and dispel the untruths being circulated on the internet, for this reason obviously comments are turned off

We all have a choice…. Do we want kindness or do we want hatred?
• This community has shown me both the best, and unfortunately the worst in people. These past few years have been a very difficult time and many are just quite simply unhappy with the world we are living in. Some people are just angry, frustrated and looking for someone or something to lash out about. Anyone working in the customer service industry can relate to this as we have all seen it in one form or another. Much of this we cannot change, but somethings we can. I know I cannot change the problems of the world but I also know each day I can do something, just one small thing, to make one person’s day a bit brighter. This is my motto I choose to live by.
• My family and I have done many good things for this community and for the people within it. It’s disheartening to receive hateful texts, Facebook messages, emails, letters mailed to my home, read negative posts and comments almost on a daily basis about us for years now. Many were cheering the closure of HHG and the laundry mat which is hard to believe. Every business is important and we have tried to support, help and promote other businesses however we can. To us, it’s a relief in many ways to close these businesses but also very sad as we truly hoped to serve the community. Even though our city businesses have closed, the negativity towards us still continues, much by people who even admit they have never ever even met us, only heard things. I have a file full of hateful comments and misinformation that has been said about us and often being said by people who moved from this area decades ago or by fake Facebook profiles. When will this ever stop? How do we make a better community we can all be proud of? It’s time to decide for yourself.
• So, I invite you, come meet me if you have not as others have. I will be at Alcona Brew Haus from the time we open until the time we close on both Friday and Saturday this week. If I can, I would love the opportunity to make your day just a bit brighter❤️
