Eggplant in all shades of purple at the market this week just waiting to be roasted or tossed on the grill.

Eggplant and lamb are a match made in culinary heaven so make sure to stop by the Wil-HI Farm tent for all cuts lamb, too. Maybe this is the week you make moussaka!

Lucien C. Smith and the Blues Cruise Band will be jamming from 10:30 to 12:30. You do not want to miss this funk, jazz, R&B and reggae trio. Saturday may be the last visit from our resident poet-on-the-fly, Julia Gardner. Take advantage of her talent! Wildcraft Baking Co. which specializes in gluten-free goodness from sourdough loaves to buckwheat brioche is also here. Plenty of reasons to come on down to the MTA lot and spend some time with us -not to mention just-picked bi-color corn and heirloom tomatoes at their sweet peak, waiting to be halved and topped with La Trafila burrata.

The knife sharpener will be joining us, too, so get your kitchen knives, quilting scissors and pruning shears at the ready.

See you at the market, where we hope you will help us fill out "gleaning" baskets for the food pantry.

Channery Hill Farm is coming all the way down from Callicoon, in the Catskills, to bring us their fab farm-to-jar condiments: green tomato ketchup, garlic scape pesto, rhubarb vinegar (so good on strawberries to coax out the sweet), just to name a few. Zeena Bakery 's muhammara is one of the hottest tickets at the market right now, make sure you get there early to get your hands on this kicky red pepper pomegranate spread. So delicious on Zeena's focaccia laced with Za'atar spices. Trotta’s House of Pasta is bringing seasonal basil tagliatelle, made with market basil, natch.

Did you get invited somewhere nice this weekend? Bring a thick bouquet of tawny sunflowers from Thousand Leaf Gardens .

Come sit under one of our turmeric-yellow umbrellas and enjoy Latin tunes by crooner/guitarist Vicente Saavedra and something creatively caffeinated from Boxing Day Cafe. We're open from 8:30 to 1 p.m.

Oh, and our resident street poet is here on Saturday, should you be in need of a gift for someone special this week.

Wil-Hi Farm specializing in all things lamb, is coming, so plan on making lamb kebabs with a tangy yogurt sauce or lamb burgers with focaccia from Abbiocco Salumeria & Focacceria for dinner one night this weekend.
