Just a friendly reminder — we will be CLOSED this MONDAY, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

We hope you are soaking up every last drop of this long weekend — whether that means a backyard cookout, a lake day, or simply doing absolutely nothing at all. You have earned it. 🤎

You have been eating them since we opened… You have been tagging your friends because of them… Today we are telling you everything you need to know about MOCHI. 🍩

Mochi is a traditional Japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice — steamed, pounded into a smooth sticky paste, and shaped into something magical. The result is a uniquely chewy, soft, slightly sweet dough unlike anything else in the food world.

Its history goes back over 14,000 years — once considered a sacred gift from the gods in Japan, served at religious ceremonies and even carried into battle by samurai for its nutrition and convenience.

If you have little ones at home — this one is for you.

Many of you know that the heart behind Locally Rooted Market is also the heart behind RR Homestead — the farm right here in Hastings where so much of what you find on our shelves is grown and raised.

This Friday, September 4th — Fall Farmschool kicks off at the homestead and we would love for your family to be part of it!

SEPTEMBER FARMSCHOOL — Farm Chores and Fall Garden Preparation

🕐 Friday September 4th — 10 AM to 12 PM
👦 Ages 4-12

Kids will help feed the pigs, visit the piglets, milk the goats, check on the cow who may have just had her baby, and get their hands in the garden preparing beds and planting seeds to harvest this fall.
