About The Fisheries (Learn The Truth)

90% Of the Seafood that I carry comes from the local Gloucester Day Boat Fishery (Meaning Caught and Returned to Shore on the Same day as Opposed to Trip Boat Seafood which can be 5 to 10 Days Old before it gets Back to the Dock). As a Life Long Fishermen I understand the importance of Commercial Fishing Methods that are Sustainable and obtain my Fine Quality Seafood’s from Fishermen that Practice them. Each morning before I open I head Down to Gloucester to personally select the fish with the clearest eyes and color and have it all filleted by Professional Fish Cutters and Properly Packed in sterile Food Grade Plastic Fish Tubs and Packed in Ice Filled Coolers insuring that even on the hottest of days everything stays Ice Cold. If any Seafood is below My High Standards, I will reject it and simply not have it and lower my High Standards even when it is re-offered to me as a Lower Price. This is how You will always be assured that your purchase will be of the highest quality and supreme Freshness every time. Often people tell me that they can not eat seafood anymore when they go out to eat because they find a vast difference in the Quality and would rather make Seafood at home. As for the 10% of my seafood that is not local caught: My Shrimp are always Wild as Farm Raised Shrimp are simply disgusting! They come from the Gulf of Mexico from Louisiana to Texas and are the finest you will ever eat (Especially the U/7 or I/8 Count which are Massive). My Salmon is from the Icy Ocean waters of Newfoundland Canada and again - Never Ever Fresh Water Farm Raised and you will love the difference. My King Crab & Snow Crab is usually from Alaska but can some times be from Canada or even Russia and is always “Clean Crab” of the highest quality. My Lobster meat is always ordered on Gloucester and Cooked from Fresh off the boat live lobsters - Never Dead Ones! Did you know that most lobster pounds cook dead lobsters and sell the meat? They Do! And again..the Quality is not the Same. I never use STP (Sodiumtripolyphosphate), Bleach or any other chemicals in my seafood ever! Some fish markets do and it is 100% LEGAL actually.......Grossssss! Many fish markets also mislabel Seafood’s and Deceive their customers in the name of Profit, I never have and never will and some of the Biggest Legal Fish Mongers have been fined for it through random testing by the State and Federal Government, but not this little guy - I’m Honest. Great Example: Ever Heard of “White Tuna”? Well there’s no such Species! It’s actually Tile Fish which will make you Sick as a Dog from Both Ends. Ever notice that in Grocery Stores that you can smell fish at the front door sometimes and the seafood counter is 75 ft away ? How fresh is it? lol . Some seafood's come from Factory “SLAVE SHIPS” from around the world and anyone Selling it or Buying it is Supporting Human Right Violations - Abuse and Slavery, but it happens in the name of Profit. Ever see seafood labeled “Ocean Fresh”? That docent mean fresh out of the ocean - Ocean Fresh is a Brand Name.....ahhhhh the fine art of Deception. Some big Seafood Suppliers that have Bases of Operations in America but are foreign owned also Engage in COMMERCIAL WHALING (For Legal Reasons I will not name them but feel free to Google it) And on a Final Note, Fish does have a scent to it as does beef and chicken, however it does not smell “Fishy” (Soaking in Water with salt & Bleach is how some markets hide the stink of old fish), Fresh fish should smell like the Ocean or sometimes even have a buttery scent to it for the most part or a sweet smell. To remember this motto, “If it Smells Like Fish - Throw it Back! It’s Not Fresh”. I hope you will Join me in Supporting the Local Struggling Mom & Pop Fisheries not only in Gloucester but Nation Wide - But Especially in New England. It’s a Dying Traditional way of life.
