Welcome to the "science experiment" corner of my kitchen—or at least that’s what my wonderful mother-in-law calls it! 🧪✨
I’m currently fermenting several batches of saved tomato seeds. Fun fact: tomato seeds are encased in a natural gel coating that keeps them from germinating inside the fruit. By letting the seeds ferment in their own juices for a few days, beneficial microbes break down that gel. Once it separates, I can easily rinse the seeds clean, dry them out, and store them for next season’s garden! šŸ…šŸŒ±

Cowboy Tomato Review: A Bold, Smoky Late-Season Winner🤠
Ever since an early-season taste test—thanks to a wonderfully deformed early fruit—I’ve been dreaming about the Cowboy tomato! It delivers a bold, classic tomato flavor that finishes with deep, smoky notes. While the plants can be a bit stingy and sit firmly in the late-season category (always a gamble for our short growing zone!), it has officially earned a permanent spot in my garden.
The yield produces massive, consistent beefsteaks averaging around 1 lb 3 oz—sized perfectly to cover an entire slice of bread with a single, meaty slice. Worth every bit of wait and garden real estate!

Only a few of my kohlrabi 😳
I grow a variety called kossak kohlrabi, that is known for its size without being woody. It is by far my favorite variety to grow! I cut up a purple Vienna kohlrabi that was well under half the size and it was still woodier than the very largest Kossak variety. Several of these big bad boys got cut into cubes and will be fermented into kimchi and the rest will most likely be cut up and frozen for winter soupsā¤ļø

Pomodoro Cuore Antico di acqui terme was the winner for the heaviest tomato out of the bunch at 1 lb 4 Oz with Aunt Swarlos Polish Plum not far behind at just over a lb! Most of these tomatos went towards our dinner of home made spaghetti O'sšŸ˜‹

The big slicers are just starting to ripen up and I think we definitely have some competition for the heaviest tomato!

Mock pineapplešŸ Zucchini canned in pineapple juice.
Had an over abundance of zucchini so I figured I would give it a try! The worst that could happen is it becomes pig foodšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! Made some up using the leftover juice to try for dinner, and it is definitely Ollie approved!

I don't think pictures do these monsters justice!
From left to right Aunt Swarlos Polish Plum, Pomodoro Cuore Antico di Acqui, Pepsi šŸ˜‰, Romeo Roma, and another Aunt Swarlos Polish Plum. Once they fully rippen I will be weighing, taking photos, and saving seeds from these as they are the first to blush off of each plants.
I think with this line up it's only going to take a few to fill the canning jarsšŸ˜†

Welcome to the farm little guy! He is a registered IPP boarling and has made an impression already by finding his way through two fences, out to the road, and finally caught back near the house. Let's just say he has been banished to Piggie Jail in the barn where we can get him bigger, and more friendly!
