Hi VCW Family,

It’s a bittersweet communication from me today as I’d like to share the news that today, September 8th and tomorrow, September 9th will be my last two days as your friendly and wacky neighborhood cheesemonger at Valley Cheese and Wine.

To sit down and attempt to put into words what the last three years with all of you have meant to me is truly an insurmountable task. In all of you I’ve found love, support, and the most incredible community; you’ve not only been my customers but also my friends. You’ve celebrated my palate, platters, pairings, AND milestones, and I wouldn’t be leaving this experience as enriched and supported as I feel if it weren’t for you.

Thank you for the last few years. Thank you for trusting me to curate the cheese program the way I have and thank you for receiving it with open minds and open mouths (there’s really no good way to say that, haha, anyway). Thanks for catching the vibe I was throwing out and vibing alongside. Thank you for the parties, the classes, and the everyday interactions of tasting cheese together and exploring dynamic and mind-blowing pairings together… I wonder if I knew all along that the best pairing was me and you. I certainly know now.

Everyone’s story has chapters, and one of my favorites will always be Valley Cheese and Wine.

Don’t worry! Sometimes our timelines dictate our decisions and this is the right move for me. Operations will continue as normal without me - We’ll be open on Tuesday for our usual hours and you’ll have Mom, Dad, and Emily… be excellent to them! Shop Dad Burgess will be pouring a bright and beautiful Chardonnay and an elegant Pinot Noir, both from the gorgeous Willamette Valley.

Producer Spotlight: Domaine Drouhin!
Saturday | August 5th | 4-6pm

Class: Back to School with Diana
Saturday | August 12th | 4-6pm

A repeat of a quickly sold out class from last year - get your Lisa Frank notebooks, sparkly pens, and scrunchies ready as we take you Back to School!

Come hungry and join Diana for a stroll down memory lane to the days of the good old sack lunch at the cafeteria… with a twist. Open your lunch and wax nostalgic as we revisit some of the staples from yesteryear and integrate them with your adult palate by master pairing everything in your lunch with a cheese or wine!

We have a lot of fun in this class. Feel free to don some 90s fashion and neon… we may even have a goodie bag for you to keep!

Class: California Gold with Burgess
Saturday | August 19th | 4-6pm

California is by far the largest wine producing region in the USA! Join Burgess as he guides you through the ‘golden oldies’; the wines that put California on the map as a heavy-hitter in the wine world.

You’ll taste through examples of Zinfandel, Cabernet, Chardonnay, and others, learning about the terroir, the make styles, and of course, the flavor profiles!

Class: Cheese 101 with Diana
Saturday | August 26th | 4-6pm

Join Diana on a journey through her passion! We’ll start the class with some fun Q&A and cheese trivia and myths, then you’ll taste through and learn about several of our cheeses from our beautifully curated selection… going over everything from milk types, how the cheeses are made, how to taste and evaluate them, and, of course, how to pair them!

The nibbles will be plentiful and the wine will be flowing in this curdy and nerdy adventure through cheese!

The good news is that we have now received our allocation of Sassicaia for this season, the 2019 vintage. The current vintage is rated 98 points by Wine Spectator and 99 points by Wine Enthusiast.

The bad news is that we only received three bottles and one has been sold. If you wish to purchase a bottle, please click on the link below.

👀 Somethin’s fishy around here…

It’s a popup event with - This Sunday!

Do fish and cheese mix? Some say no, but we’re all about it. Join and the superstar ladies of the Tinned Fish Club of Las Vegas this Sunday at VCW for their June event! 😎🎉

Abandon outdated pairing rules and taste your way through unique, guided pairings of our favorite tinned fish, luxe cheeses & natural wines. Some are wild, some are classic, all are delicious.

Your $48 ticket includes four guided fish/cheese/wine pairings, plus access to a grazing table with cheeses, tins, and other fun nibbles. The shop will be open for retail sales to pick up your favorites from the day, and will be here, of course, and have tins from her amazing selection available for pickup as well! 🐠🍷🧀

Not going to The Fortress tomorrow, but want to watch the game? Do you like wine, beer, cheese, and cool people who also like wine, beer, and cheese? Do you see where I'm going with this?
.. Of course you do. Get in your gear and Knight Up at VCW tomorrow from 4:30 until it's over as we watch Game 4 VCW style - complete with bottomless bubbly, beer, wine, cheese, raffles, and general tipsy merriment!

It's warming up and we're California Dreamin' with Morgan Winery!

Hey y'all! it's been a while since we had a producer spotlight... so we're going for it tomorrow from 5-7pm!

Our friend Gretchen Allen from Vin Sauvage Nevada will be here pouring two wines from Morgan Winery - organically farmed and family owned in the Santa Lucia Highlands.

We've got a super fun Chardonnay and a Rhone-style red blend on the tasting menu tomorrow and the cheese pairings are *chef's kiss*, so, you know... come on over ;)

Gretchen Allen, WSET3, of Vin Sauvage Nevada

Gretchen started her wine career with earnest in 1999, after being a fine dining server for 10 years. For the past 34 years she has worked in every position available to the industry, including Hospitality Director for a few notable California wineries. Her passion for wine and her love of teaching is evident to all as she proudly represents the exceptional wines that she distributes via Vin Sauvage Nevada.


Prior to her current role, she was the F & B Director for Southern Highlands Golf Club, Wine Director for Valentino at the Venetian Hotel & Casino, and floor sommelier at Aureole at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino.

Las Vegas is her permanent home that she shares with her two rescue pit bulls, Bodhi and Smokey.
