As many of you know, the cleanup efforts from Hurricane Helene's devastation are still ongoing, even a week after it made landfall. Many in our community remain without water and electricity, and all schools in the area have been closed since the 28th, with some not expected to reopen until mid-October. The damage is extensive.
Unfortunately, this disaster has severely impacted our annual Scouting fundraiser, which supports our Council's property near the lake. The area lost hundreds of trees, and the new ecology building that was completed last year also sustained damage.
I can’t, in good conscience, ask our local community to contribute to the fundraiser when so many are struggling with basic necessities like water and power. However, our local council is facing the challenge of unsold inventory from this fundraiser.
Here's how you can help: we’re asking friends to support us by purchasing the remainder of our popcorn, which will then be donate to first responders/community volunteers in our area. We have many locals assisting in the clean up efforts. This is a massive task, and we would be incredibly grateful for your support.
Any donation, no matter the size, will help us cover the cost of our inventory and show our appreciation to the men and women doing this hard work.
My Venmo information is below—thank you in advance for helping us during this challenging time!
Allycia has grown in so many ways, and we are so very grateful for this organization.
