A variety of vegan and meat based soups and broths are available for sale at our Herndon kitchen and retail store. All of our products are gluten free and dairy free. A Salad in Your Soup?

Yes, that’s right, about 4 cups as a matter of fact! That’s how many greens (arugula, kale and spinach) are in each 15 ounce pint of our green soups along with the warm spices of turmeric, nutmeg and all spice! The difference is Glorious Greens is made with potatoes and our chicken broth. Green Goodness (vegan) is made with cauliflower and filtered water.

We made so many delicious gluten free Sweet & Savory Crepes in today’s cooking class with Chefs Anna and Lana!

We learned the technique of making buckwheat crepes and filled them with Sautéed mushrooms and spinach, Ham and Gruyère cheese, Smoked salmon with dill sour cream and mayo, Brie and caramelized pears and Mascarpone cream and fresh berries.

It’s garlic scape season! David from Second Spring Farm dropped off crates of fresh garlic scapes at our kitchen today.

These long, curly green shoots are the flowering stems of the garlic plant. In spring, farmers remove them to encourage the bulb to continue developing, resulting in a fuller, more flavorful garlic harvest.

Garlic scapes have a tender texture and a bright, mild garlic flavor that works beautifully in a variety of dishes. They’re delicious raw in salads, lightly sautéed, stirred into soups, or blended into a vibrant pesto. They also make an excellent substitute for garlic and onions, and in moderate amounts are considered low FODMAP.

We feature garlic scapes in our LF Chicken Tarragon, LF Garden Vegetable, and LF Vegetable Curry.
